excuses excuses excuses. you make it sound like Dwight has some serious medical condition that warrants all our sympathy, when it's just a character flaw. Dwight is mentally weak and soft, and as a professional athlete that is a major strike against him and he should be held accountable.

You think 5 foot 9 Isaiah Thomas doesn't fear of getting blocked whenever he drives to the hoop? Does that prevent him from developing that part of the game? If IT can play the inside game, why can't Dwight play the outside game? which one is more difficult?

This guy is a professional and gets paid millions of dollars as compensation. Who cares if the media is hard on him its part of the job. We all are held accountable at work. If he truly needs therapy then he should seek it out, however a phobia of missing jump shots is ridiculous.

I was going to respond then I read the second paragraph and realized you must be a child to have that thought. Nevermind, carry on.

carry on with your pathetic excuses for Dwight since you seem unable to come up with any reasonable retort to the scathing indictment of Dwight's weak-ass mentality compared to others in this league. The fact that he can't develop any part of the game that doesn't hinges on his physical advantage is all you need to know as to Dwight's limitation as a basketball player.

Per Cap’s Facebook and ESPN: “‘Dwight Howard is a perfect example of the fact that ‘potential has a shelf life.’ Laker fans should be patient and allow Mitch & company to prepare themselves to do some serious work in the free agent market.’ […] Both O’Neal and Abdul-Jabbar were critical of Howard even before he decided to leave the Lakers. Abdul-Jabbar told the San Francisco Chronicle last month he met Howard only once and that Howard expressed an interest in learning from the former Lakers captain but he never again reached out to Abdul-Jabbar. ‘He’s charming, he’s charismatic, very nice young man,’ Abdul-Jabbar said. ‘Maturity-wise, he doesn’t get it.’ When Abdul-Jabbar was asked about teaching Howard the sky hook, he said, ‘At least he’d have an offensive move. He gets the ball on offense, oh my God, he doesn’t know what to do. It’s usually a turnover, people come and take the ball from him or tie his arms up. Offensively, he doesn’t get it. Hasn’t made any progress."

I think this reflects more on fans who continuously want these soft superstars; Howard, Melo, Bosh, ect...

No wonder he still can't freethrows

I bet he thinks about people on TV every time he steps up to shoot.

This is exactly what I think.

I can't believe this said from a professional basketball player.

    Seriously, is anyone surprised?

I mean there have been a ton of us saying he was not that good, and is in decline - it is pretty obvious.

The team and franchise is better off without him.

He also claimed he hasn't thought about opting out yet because he doesn't want the pressure to make a decision..... smh

Dwight can be mentally pathetic sometimes. He's a kid inside a Mr Olympian's body.

I don't care about his irrational fear of shooting jumpers, but why open up about this aspect of his game? why? this is just another example of Dwight putting his foot in his mouth for no damn reason. He is terrible at media. AWFUL.

You can win with "soft" superstars: Bosh, Dirk, Parker, etc

You just named 3 players with elite skills and touch somthing that Dwight does not and has never had. Not to mention this guys our super competitive and do whatever is needed to win. Bosh room the back seat for the greater good of the team to win chips same with Parker. Parker could have made a lot more money had he left SA when he was younger but he stayed the course sacrificed individual numbers and is now a 4x champion. Dirk is a competitor and expanded his game and is a true leader his teamates all love him.

Dwight has none of those qualities but yet he was giving the most God given ability.

Not gonna sand bag dwight but he really brings it upon himself. I mean These things sounded good when he was 23-24 but dude he's what almost 31 and a 12 year vet? Cmon man grow a sack nobody wants to hear about your fear and how you cry when u watch the finale. That's so weak I have litterly never heard a NBA player let alone one that is going to go to the HOF.

Dwights a nice guy and he really does a lot for the city of Houston but he's paid to playe basketball games and he's been a dud every year here besides year 1.

This year he declined so much the year before he missed half the year and then was on a minutes restriction for the games he did play when he came back. He was good in the playoffs but he's not Tim Duncan he doesn't get that kind of leeway to were u can sit out games like that.

His time has expired and the rockets will be better without him. Everyone not just harden will thrive with this guy off the team. He was the cancer all year and he's openly telling everyone and he doesn't even realize it.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I get the other stuff. He's felt the need to unload and get s*** off his chest. But this is just f***ing weak. Too scared to shoot? WTF, man? You're a basketball player. No one has ever shot anywhere near 100%.

Just go the hell away already.
