We're a lot closer to a title than people think.. With the right luck of course.

Morey has the assets to tweak the roster for a championship run. Dwight just needs to be healthy.

Getting Josh Smith really saved the Rox this season IMHO, him and DMO are holding the down the front court with support from Dorsey and Tjones in DH's absence.

Smith's offense is still iffy but his defense at the PF spot is really great, you combine him with DMo who is also a good defender and Dorsey who is good for a couple of hard fouls and bodying people up and suddenly the front court D is still amazing even without DH.

Not really. People tend to mistake "successful surgery" with "he'll be back" when the two have no correlation.

Yeah I was afraid of that when we signed Dwight. I knew he'd be great for us, but there's always something to worry about with players that rely on athleticism like Amar'e and Dwight.

It's sad that this is happening again to us. I still believe though. Morey inherited TMac and Yao and their problems and he turned it around immensely. At least Morey will be ahead of the curve this time around hopefully and think of SOMETHING.

    In Morey, we trust.

jeezz folks... I know some of yall are pretty scarred by Tmac and Yao... but just give it some time to find out the extent of the injury and Dwights ability to play again... back of the ledge...

Absolutely fantastic news if the source is just a bad bone bruise instead of serious cartilage damage.

Dear god, the amount of ovveraction in this thread is frustrating. Firstly for you people comparing this to the T-Mac and Yao situation.

    1. The T-Mac Situation. Let us revisit that.

What we find is a player who was essentially made of glass. A player that was weak minded and undermined his team. Hell a portion of the team found out about his surgery from the media.

Dwight on the other hand has 9 seasons where he has at-least played 70 games. Including the season with the lakers where he essentially played with a torn labrum for most of the season.

Let us not forget coming back from a gruesome back injury and regaining most of his athleticism and explosion before going down with his knee bruise.

And the team has released a consistent stream of information regarding dwight. After the ambiguous "laker" game, the team has stated dwight suffered a knee strain and has stuck with that information. No one in the organization has ever alluded to "Micro-fracture" and the only person that mentioned it was cyberx.

I respect cyberx and his information but let's not forget that Dwight's own doctor is on record for stating that there is nothing structurally wrong with his knee. And no "structure" does not mean just "bone". Its obviously a broad term and the doctor is simply stating there is nothing wrong with his knee.

    2. Yao Ming.

It's not ****ing secret yao ming suffered his foot ailments due to his stature and his feet failing to support his massive frame. The constant pound of Chinese basketball also didn't help yao rest his foot, which was surely needed after an NBA season.

Again we cannot compare Yao to Dwight, Dwight has not shown a history of knee problems.

    3. Dwight Howard.

All of you negative nancy's need to relax and let this situation play out. Those of you stating that dwight needs to get microfracture are simply over reacting. If there are less invasive methods that work for Dwight why the hell should he do Microfracture (which may of may not work, just like the injection)

And most importantly we do not even know if Dwight's knee is so bad off that he needs microfracture. Why jump to conclusions and over react? Do you old farts like raising your blood pressures?

Personally i'm neutral to this situation. I'm not panicking nor am i brimming with optimism. I feel like Dwight will be back for the last few weeks of the season and the playoffs.

Ariza just found out yesterday before the Bulls game through the media as well. He finds out on the post practice video (on Feb 4th) on the rockets website. The situations aren't the same obviously, but the cause for concern until we get a real diagnosis, rather than some crap like we will rest him for 4 weeks than reevaluate him...

Havent read through all 12 pages but have anyone posted "We should have stuck with Asik instead of signing DH12"? Would this team be better with Asik as the starting center and Harden this good? I always thought Asik is the better defender over DH12. Maybe this is the reason Rockets held on for Asik for one whole season, they were anticipating something like this to happen. Just a thought. I do hope DH12 recovers and not become a Yao Ming nightmare.

The positive is seeing Donuts improving this season because of these injuries.

In the Chronicle today, Dr Walter Lowe said, "His cartilage injury is tiny. It's certainly not a surgical problem". He goes on to say, "I really think we will see him play....hopefully, way before playoff time".

agreed, people here are over reacting without know what really is going on. Unless your a doctor or studying in the field, we don't really know how bad this is.

Great news, we as Rox fans fear the worst after Yao and TMac.

Let's hope he gets fully healthy.

The biggest thing is that Dwight did not re-injure or reaggravate anything. We simply pulled him from the lineup because he was not looking like his old self.

The implication is that, any day now, we could if need be send Dwight back out there and get the Crappy Dwight that we've been seeing the past month. But you know what? Crappy Dwight still beats no Dwight.

So for now, Crappy Dwight is our floor. Not Microfracture Dwight. At the very least, barring further injury we can be reasonably certain that by the playoffs Dwight will be out there clogging the lane and fighting for rebounds, even if it's only in the way he has been doing in January and not November.

As a Rockets fan who went through the Yao/T-Mac era from beginning to end, I'll take it.

Let's pray for a healthy Dwight for the post season. Going to need it.
