Good thing most people do not live downtown. Lived all over, some places arguably better than Houston, many worse... nothing wrong with the city of Houston... the reason no one wants to play for the Rockets is because they do not have any stars. When Olajuwon played here it wasn't an issue at all.

You guys are right - in light of league's decision on CP trade, it could kill D12 to NJ before it starts, at least that seems plausible

Broussard is literally r****ded. The NBA isn't going to start blocking trades whenever it wants. It owns the freaking Hornets and thus could do it in this situation.

Seriously, how does this guy have a job? How does John McClain have a job? How does Dick Justice have a job? How does Stephen A. Smith have a job? How does Skip Bayless have a job?!

    Sorry. Frustrating night.

I hope Dwight goes over there, good for him. At least he'll have the RIGHT to go where he wants to. We sure as heck don't have any shot in getting him. With a GM so outspoken about using players as assets its no wonder why no one wants to come to Houston. Why play for a team that is willing to trade you at any moment? No stability = no future.

Players are just fine with Houston. Barkley, Pippen, Drexler, TMac, and Artest all came here willfully and didn't put up a fight. The ONLY reason we can't get players to come now is bc we don't have any all stars on the roster.

By the powers of Captain Obvious, I declare that D-Will + D12= A damn scary Brooklyn-ready team.

Does this make anyone more willing to try to trade for someone like CP3 or even Dwight without them promising a contract extension?

The Nets took a risk on Deron Williams, and many people, including myself, thought there was no way he would return after his contract expired. Now theyre the front runner for Dwight(if true).

Their situation is a little different from ours though. There was more time left on Deron's contract than there is on a CP3/Dwight contract, and now that they are, or will soon be the Brooklyn Nets, I guess the Nets are now a "big market team."

Before seeing this I was opposed to trading everything we have for a big player only to risk seeing him walk after one shortened season, now, I'd definitely consider it. I think many people here overestimate the value of a "big market city/team" and their ability to attract free agents. While being in New York definitely had alot to do with Amare becoming a Knick, I think their cap flexibility at the time and their expressed willingness to go ofter Amare + Lebron(at the time) and eventually Carmelo sealed the deal. Like some have said here, when Hakeem was a Rocket, recruiting free agents wasn't nearly as difficult. With the emergence of "super teams," and especially with CP3 and Dwight openly stating they want to play together, I think taking the risk on one of them walking could definitely be worth the while.

Worst case scenario, if we were to grab one, not the other, we are put in the situation the Magic/Hornets are in now. We could trade them for a new bucket of assets at the deadline. If that happens, we are left with God knows how much cap space in the upcoming offseason.

I'm gonna throw this out there:

If Dwight Howard is traded to the Nets today, the NBA will change it's mind and approve CP3 to the Lakers.

    You heard it here first.

Not only that, I think a foundation of Williams & Howard can overtake the Heat, they just need the right parts around them.

Food for thought. I think that with the initial trade for Gasol, Morey had this in mind....sure we will help LA get Paul because we have prior knowledge of DH12 wanting to go to NJ. I think Houston gave up so much to obviously have cap space + lure Nene, then flip he and Gasol to get Dwight the next season. In essence Martin, Scola, Dragic & pick for Dwight + cap space to play with but just a theory.

Doubt it. Stern isn't one to second guess, as is as stubborn as can be. This is a dude that jacked the Sonics from Seattle and basically said "what...do something".

As of 11 a.m. Friday, the Magic plan on Dwight Howard showing up for first practice at 4 p.m. unless Jay-Z and Russian mob block entrance

    not until 2012-2013.

that being said, speaking of desirable NBA cities- Newark New Jersey and or Brooklyn New York wouldn't be on my top list as a premier player in this league.
