It's funny how in an agent coached, non-committal interview people hear their preconceived ideas confirmed.
An overpaid player basically confessing to not giving 100% at times...don't let the door hit you on the way out. He should have just lied.
Dwight could opt in, I hope not but he could. Imagine if his agent tells him that his current value is at an all time low and he will not get a contract with a value of more than 15 or 16 million a year for 3 or 4 years but a good year 16/17 could turn that into a 20 million plus for 4 or 5 years starting in 2017. I know what Barkley said about he has to opt out but I think Dwight's value as a player is at an all time low. I'm not sure any team in the league gives him a 20 million contract this summer. If the Rockets hire a coach that Dwight likes maybe he chooses to opt in.
It happened 4x this year to the Thunder and 73 out of 82 times to the rest of the league. But yeah they'll fade...just...wait for it.
I was shouting at the TV and my girlfriend was like calm down before you bust a blood vessel. I'm like, please ask him what is he doing to improve his offensive game, free throws, and why do we only score 28% of the time when we throw the ball into the post to him?
Dwight can get a contract of $15 mln per year for the next 4, which is significantly better than a 1 yr deal with the possibility of injury and/or a horrible year.
Maybe Morey is telling Dwight's people that he will trade him to Cleveland for Kevin Love if he opts in, and Dwight can seriously up his free agent value in 2017 if he wins a title with Cleveland.
Bottom line, I would rather role with Clint and watching him develop. Instead of D12 dragging this team down with his passive aggressive behaviors.
Made for really good TV, but if Dwight legitimately thinks he should get more post-ups then he's out of his mind. Didn't he shoot 35% from outside of 2 feet? And inside of 2 feet, he often gets hacked and put on the line where he is terrible. Plus he's a high turnover guy. Not to mention... he had several post up opportunities against GSW and he was completely shut down by Bogut.
Dwight was awful offensively this season. There's a reason his teammates froze him out. It ain't bad chemistry or jealousy. He's got a mediocre postup game, he turns the ball over way too often, and when he's fouled, he can't make more than half his free throws. He can't even really get up for alley-oops anymore like he used to. And with his defense slipping as well, I think it's best for everyone if we just move on. Dwight can get a long-term deal elsewhere and be that team's problem. And we can use that 22 mil on other players.
Bingo, Charles acts as if Dwight is 2009 Dwight and not 2017 Dwight who can't command a double team and is a horrible free throw maker. Barkley makes horrible comparison of D12 to Kanter, Love, etc... All big men that can score in the paint consistently and make free throws. There isn't one team that D12 commands a double team from. Teams encourage us to throw it into D12 and force him to beat us. He can't !!!
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Dwight scores 1.10 PPP on p-n-r, a play he was only involved in 9.3% of the time. 0.82 PPP on post-ups which he went to 30.5% of the time</p>— ☕netw3rk (@netw3rk) <a href="https://twitter.com/netw3rk/status/730235279068565505">May 11, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Sources indicate Dwight does not, in fact, need more post ups.
I've always had respect for Dwight, but I have a new level of respect for him to putting himself out there to be grilled like that. I know he's going into free agency and he has to rebuild his image for endorsements but this was a very good segment and he answered some of the questions very candidly. That being said, yes Dwight can't dribble between his legs, he can't bring the ball up the floor, he can't finish with consistency unless its on an alley oop, he can't keep up with the new era of center-forwards that stretch the floor and run circles around him and he thinks the best way to improve on these deficiencies by spending the summer increasing the size of biceps. It just tells me that he still doesn't get it. I think he will contribute to whichever team he goes to but he has to accept that the reason Magic Johnson said he wouldn't make it to the league is the same problem he's still dealing with, he's a great defensive player but he's very offensively limited and has shown minimal growth in that area since entering the league. He's had the tutelage of Dream for the last three years and still has not been able to put together a game changing offensive set. That's why Kenny called him a hyena, this is who he is and getting more jacked may aide on the defensive end but I fail to see how bigger muscles help with free throws, or developing a 15 ft jump shot or being able to bring the ball up the floor on fast breaks to throw opposing defenses into discombobulation. I know one stat that will increase with Dwight's bench reps, his tech numbers. Have fun in Orlando next year Dwight
I don't understand the hate we have as Houston fans for Dwight. The guy does a lot of charity work, and is a great person in the community. I think if we have the right coach, he and Harden can make it work. Kenny and JVG would be my only choices, with Sam C. as an assistant, because he worked with Deandre in LAC. I do not agree that he needs the ball in the post every time down the floor because he isn't a great post player, but he should get his points off rebounds, and PNR situations. I personally would not mind seeing him back with the team, given the right coach. I think he understands there has to be chemistry, and a lot of that falls on our number 1 start James. James needs to understand that he isn't a point guard, but that really is on the coach to be honest not James. A coach that can get him easy buckets off screens and teach him how to play without the ball is what is required.
Unless Dwight recognizes that he needs to be some team's Ben Wallace instead of trying to be Shaq, Dream, or Tim Duncan, he is not going to sniff a title. It's hard enough to win in today's guard driven league even through a good post up player, much less an ineffective one like Dwight.
he should of answered it like Kevin Durant answer's questions. <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version="6" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><div style="padding:8px;"> <div style=" background:#F8F8F8; line-height:0; margin-top:40px; padding:50.0% 0; text-align:center; width:100%;"> <div style=" background:url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAACwAAAAsCAMAAAApWqozAAAAGFBMVEUiIiI9PT0eHh4gIB4hIBkcHBwcHBwcHBydr+JQAAAACHRSTlMABA4YHyQsM5jtaMwAAADfSURBVDjL7ZVBEgMhCAQBAf//42xcNbpAqakcM0ftUmFAAIBE81IqBJdS3lS6zs3bIpB9WED3YYXFPmHRfT8sgyrCP1x8uEUxLMzNWElFOYCV6mHWWwMzdPEKHlhLw7NWJqkHc4uIZphavDzA2JPzUDsBZziNae2S6owH8xPmX8G7zzgKEOPUoYHvGz1TBCxMkd3kwNVbU0gKHkx+iZILf77IofhrY1nYFnB/lQPb79drWOyJVa/DAvg9B/rLB4cC+Nqgdz/TvBbBnr6GBReqn/nRmDgaQEej7WhonozjF+Y2I/fZou/qAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC); display:block; height:44px; margin:0 auto -44px; position:relative; top:-22px; width:44px;"></div></div> <p style=" margin:8px 0 0 0; padding:0 4px;"> <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BE2l-6zIC_T/" style=" color:#000; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none; word-wrap:break-word;" target="_blank">"I'm not telling you" - Kevin Durant on what goes through his mind after a game like today.
