    Case Closed.

Yao is a true center and Howard is PF who Yao beats everytime in the head to head meetings.

The case is NOT closed and you need to wipe you fatty azz first. Yao has won EVERY head-to-head (7 or 8 games?) matchup against Dwight. So live with it.

Dwight Howard's game will decline when he gets older. Those vertical leap will decrease. He's a poor man's Shawn Kemp, but at least Kemp had a jump shot.

That's horsecrap. Nobody cites Kareem Abdul Jabbar's head to head numbers against Moses Malone as evidence of his true measurement in the league.

You people are just grasping at straws because that's all you have left. Howard was the youngest player in league history to lead the league in rebounding last year and he very well may be the youngest player in league history to lead the league in rebounding and blocked shots in the same season.

Howard was 1st team All NBA last year and he'll be 1st team All NBA this year. I'm living with it.

Neither TMac nor Ron Artest are superstars.

Howard is not a PF, he is another true center that Yao dominates.

Nobody in the league can stop Yao one on one, whereas Howard will be limited by players of Yao's size. Since Howard entered the league, Yao outperformed him in every head-to-head matchup.

Sure Howard is physically talented and will put up crazy numbers, but he is not the first choice of an offensive system due to his lack of offensive skills.

Yeah, just some random points that has been said before. :)

The 22 year old's game will decline when he gets older. Bahaha... so will an 18 year old's game too right?

Shawm Kemp? This is how little you know about basketball. Dwight Howard right now is a better player than Shawn Kemp ever was and it's not even close.

Oh and can you tell us how come Yao owned your man crush tonight? No excuse, just tell us why. Remember, no lame excuses! LOL!

Dwight Howard is no Shaq, his physical strength is no Shaq. He is nothing more but a strong athletic center, nothing more, nothing less.

His play style, like Lebron's, reach it's peak at around their healthiest and youngest years. So players like these will have great seasons in their 22-25, but when they begin to drop from their "twilight years" and enter their prime, they'll decline significantly. Lebron not as much as Howard.

Howard relies only on strength and atheltism, much like Lebron. But Lebron has a jumpshot to make up for (although he lacks the silky smooth Jumpshot moves that players like MJ, Kobe and McGrady has). Once Howard realizes that age is catching up to him, he has nothing to make up for it. He can't make a hookshot, he can't make free throws, he can't make jumpshots.

It'll be interesting to see how Howard progress once he reaches the age of 27, and or had his first major injury.

    Disagree.

Around 96 and 97 Kemp could face up and drive, had a jump shot as good as Karl Malone's, was a strong finisher around the basket, and was solid on help and individual defense. He was playing at a superstar level.

This was before he turned into a Sperm Whale, of course.

    Comets Win wins the thread.

Everything he has said has been spot on.

Head to Head is the dumbest comparison there is.

How about, stats vs the rest of the league. how about age, and games played per year.

    David Robinson FTW!

If Dwight went head to head with Yao on how many times they suggested the NBA logo should be changed to incorporate a crucifix, I guess Dwight would the the GoAT. Man, good suggestion Dwight. Nothing says balla like Jesus Christ. Its like, he goes left and there's no fish there but then woah there's fish and purple.

Have you ever heard of Hakeem Olajuwon?
Have you heard of David Robinson?
Have you heard of favourite opponents.
I hope you know that the sixth seed Rockets beat the top seed spurs.
The Rockets were the underdog with Olajuwon, against the elite top seed David Robinson.
    The Rockets won. Why? Matchups.
Head to head is not the dumbest comparison, it is the most important comparison. As long as there is someone out there who can outplay you, you are not the best. If the Magic were in the playoffs, it doesn't matter if they defeated all teams and went on to play the Rockets in the finals, it doesn't matter if they had a 82-0 record. If they had Howard go against Yao, they will lose, Yao will dominate, that is it.

We can proclaim Howard the best center in the league once Yao retires or he outplays Yao. Until then, no he is not the best.

I would still take Yao in a 7 game series. Of course 4 years from now that'll be a different story - or maybe even 2 or 3. But right now, Yao still has the edge.

For certain Howard is the more explosive shot blocker and dominant rebounder but in head-to-head matchups, this difference is negated with Yao's length. Howard still doesn't possess a go-to move, and his skillset is still limited compared to Yao Ming. Also, he still can not shoot 60% from the line. In the playoffs, this would pose a liability and factoring in the Rockets pace of play, Yao Ming will most likely perform better in a series.

I'd say Howard is still a season or two away from being the best center in the league. I love him on the fantasy team though! :D

Yao's game was never about being athletic. It's more about having skills, finesse, a little big of brute strength, and his size. He's a bit of everything.

DH12's game is no skills, pure athletic, and only owning other scrub centers in a weaker division in the East.

Look what we saw tonight. A Yao that's not even 100% healthy yet PWNED AND OWNED Dwight Howard to the face of the earth! Not only did Yao owned Dwight Howard, he OWNED Dwight Howard + referees!!! Yao + Yao fans OWNED all you Dwight Howard fans + Dwight Howard with pure domination to the face of this earth!!!

In conclusion, in 4 years, Dwight Howard's athletism will decrease because he's aging. He's not a long term player. And once he has a major injury, it's BYE BYE baby! Yao has couple of freak major injuries, but he's still the best center in the NBA. Why? His game doesn't depend entirely on him being athletic. So just watch, maybe in 2 or 3 years Dwight Howard will lose his hops and it's going to be Bye Bye Baby for him! He's just a poor man's Shawn Kemp. Enough said.

Oh and of course, Yao PWNED and OWNED Dwight Howard + referees!! AGAIN and again and again and again and again and again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is honestly one of the dumbest things I have ever read on this board..............

When comparing two players, head to head is the MOST important.........

If David Robinson whooped Hakeem when they played, even if Dream had better stats, David Robinson would have been considered the better player.................Obviously that is a sick joke as Dream made him look silly...........But a few years David Robinson had some pretty nutty stats but everyone knew that Dream was better because of HEAD2HEAD matchups....

Secondly, Bill Russle did not put up flashy stats like Wilt or other centers but he dominated in Head2Head matchups, and won 11 rings doing it........

His numbers against lesser centers were nothing special........... He stepped up when it really mattered............

Yao has destroyed Dwight every SINGLE time he has played him.......That counts for alot.............Dave.........
