Asik is just a rebounder, Dwight is a STAR

So you didn't remember the rest of the game when Dwight made the whole Rockets team looked silly?

Dwight shut down the paint. He threw Asik around like a rag doll all game long.

The great thing about Dwight is he doesn't have any idea of his own skill set. The dude shoots 79% with a 9% turnover rate as the finisher of P&R plays, he shoots 44% with an 18% turnover rate on postups, he has 4 times the number of post touches as P&R touches, and he whines about not getting enough post touches.

D12 would have finished on all those lobs and passes that Asik got deep in the paint. Harden and Lin can feed him all day. With these 3 combined you'd see Dwight add a few points to his ppg avg.

I get it though, Dwight is not polished. Heck, he's probably just 2 steps past 'raw'. He can't match the skilled moves of the 80's/90's centers. But he still converts when he gets the ball deep and few do it better. The skilled and effective center position has diminished, but that's the situation we're in.

And yet Asik had a tough time covering him in the post.

So does that mean Asik is a terrible post defender?

It's amazing how much better Dwight is when he gets the ball consistently.

    Are you watching, Kobe?

Lets hope he isn't watching. Pau is also great when he gets the ball more often

It doesn't get me excited to sign Howard after watching last nights game. He has lost his explosiveness and that's really the best part of his game. He is not a competent shooter outside of 5ft and he is a ****ing ridiculously bad free throw shooter. He thinks he should be fed down in the post like Hakeem was and he is not effective enough to be that type of player.

    Didn't he work with Hakeem?

Dwight of course but thats because Omer has no post game. I don't like the idea of paying DH12 $100 million year to be an average post player. The only reason he is considered the best center in the game is because of the era he plays in. I would much rather keep Omer and get a great power forward with the money we have available.

Howards getting some of his strength and legs back, so he's looking better. In terms of post moves, he's got a long way to go.

Still, he's one of the best defensive players in the L right now

Dwight dominates the paint on defense. He forces the other team to shoot only outside jumpshots and floaters (Which he can block too apparently). Lakers can allow their man to drive past them every time, because Dwightmare is waiting at the rim to contest their shot.

He is? He looks the same to me, it's just that Gasol is getting the ball more and giving Howard open looks. He's better off getting rebounds, putbacks, and alley oops.

I'm firmly in the no need for Howard camp. Sure he's better than Asik in almost every way but at the same time he's not worth 2x what Asik gives you. You can conserve that money for a position we desperately need (like at PF), or use it pay our young rooks.

He's a better team leader than post up player.

Did you hear his pregame speech before the last game? I caught a few seconds of it & he sounded pretty motivating.

That I absolutely love, but it was a little disturbing how he still managed to round up those fantastic stats of his in the season closer
