I think the NBA is missing the point. I think they want to get better and younger popular players into the dunk contest. I think that's the reason you see Dwight and Rudy Gay in it, and the contest that ended with Fernandez being in it. Why not just put the best dunkers in the Dunk Contest. I know, shocking. Whether the guy is at the end of the bench or a superstar he should be there. I'm sure they can find a way to give Lebron and Wade incentive to participate.
Dwight's dunk wasn't a dunk but it definitely wasn't a layup as some are saying. Dwight's dunk attempt does fit into Bill Walton's "THROW IT DOWN BIG MAN!" quote though . The replay makes it less impressive though once you saw it was thrown threw the hoop instead of dunked through the hoop. In my opinion you have to at least touch or grab the rim for it to be a dunk.
