Where Hakeem said they, he said that to his team mates... not to the media or his friend, his TEAMMATES.... Dwight can easily tell Harden and Bev the same thing... I'm sure they will give him the chance to do it...
This is BS. The passes are terrible many times, Parsons being one exception. When he does get the ball his drop steps and maneuvering have been fine. We need a shot chart that removes fast break dunks and pick and roll dunks to see what his real percentage is on the block when he does get the ball with a good pass. Again, some of the passes to his feet are ridiculous.
I think this is a good point too. Mchale can help but in the end he needs to tell his teammates to give him the damn ball. Fortunately, the season is still young. I'm getting increasingly annoyed with Harden's lack of defense. Blake going off at the beginning of the game was stupid.
Even if his Post shot FG% is low, it keeps the defense honest and gets their bigs in foul trouble, which makes them timid for late game Harden/Lin drives. It doesn't have to be the vast majority of his game, but it should be a good portion of it. I would be interested to see if anyone collected his post up FG%, but I honestly don't think it's all that bad.
www.MySynergySports.com , go to Dwight Howard, go to offensive plays and look at his post ups. .62 ppp @ 34% fg, 23% TO.
everywhere dwight has been the same "he's not getting the ball enough" criticism comes up. in orlando he wanted more touches in la he wanted more touches same thing here maybe...gasp... IT'S HIM. he gets pushed out of the paint. when he does get the ball his post game is horrible, alot of times turning the ball over from the post. oh, and when he finally does make a nice move, he gets fouled and has to go to the free throw line where he sucks.
Howard should be averaging 15-20 shots per game. If you want to see the dominant Dwight we saw in Orlando, you need to give him more than 10 shots a game.
1st quarter: Dwight: "Guys, pass me the ball!" - Bucket - Bucket - Brick - Bucket ======== 2nd quarter: Dwight: "Guys, I need to get more touches. Pass me the ball!" - Bucket - Brick - Turnover - Turnover ======== 3rd quarter: Dwight: "Guys, you're not giving me the ball enough. Pass me the ball!" - Bucket - Turnover - Turnover - Brick ======== 4th quarter: Dwight: "Guys, DON'T pass me the ball!" - Hack - Hack - Hack - Hack
But... Orlando Dwight averaged no more than 13.4 FGA per game and that was the 2010 until 2012 his "dominant" years. 15 - 20 fga is a big stretch, not going to happen.
I realize that. Which is why I can see why he wanted the ball more in Orlando. If he gets 15-20 shots/game, we will be a better team. I'd prefer an awkward but effective post move from Dwight than Parsons or Garcia just chucking up 3's in the face of defenders.
Agree completely. This is problematic because he's not tall, and last night got into trouble by trying this move against Pau and Kaman. I've noticed that when he was attempting post moves in a few games, opponents have been doubling and tripling him, causing him to miss those shots, and he's not a good enough passer to make them pay for it. I think this is him compensating for being vulnerable to the double teams.
Honestly don't know how that will happen especially with Dwight's limited post moves and especially when runs away from the ball when he comes back in the 4th.
If we look for him more, it will happen. Our guys right now do not have the mindset of playing inside out basketball. They'd rather chuck it up from 3.
And how many TOs that will cause if he has that much touch? And his post moves aren't that effective, never were.
A Garcia 3 is worth 1.33 ppp for the season, more than DOUBLE what Howard's doing on the post. If Howard's post moves were awkward but effective, sure, let him take all the shots he wants. But Dwight Howard's post moves are bad. Unless he's got great position or a mismatch, a DH post-up is by far the worst play the Houston Rockets run. Our guards absolutely need to do better looking for Howard on the PnR, and I think that'll come with time. But they also need to put their foot down and stop wasting possessions pretending he's going to magically turn into a good post player after spending a couple afternoons with Hakeem. He's a 8 year veteran, if it was going to happen it would've.
Probably between 4 and 5, similar to James Harden's TO numbers. They are extremely effective. Dude averaged over 20 a game on only 12-13 shots. He's a 55% shooter for his career and had a few years where he shot over 61%!
Idk where to find those stats, but if you've watched Dwight Howard on the Magic, he got a lot more touches and he was effective.
