The more I see Howard play the more I think he can never take his offensive game to the next level. He is just to robotic in the way he moves. I think he is going to lead the league in rebounds for the next decade but I'll bet his offensive game is already 90% of what it will ultimately be. A double team is always going to bamboozle this kid because he is ineffective more than 8 feet from the basket and is not much of a passer.

I think he is the ultimate second banana but he is too one dimensional to lead a team deep into the playoffs.

No one's gonna agree with you on this. Sorry.
But as a freakish as Dwight is right now, he's still learning to play a true back to the basket game-right now he's still mostly relying on his freakish athleticism.
Thats why Yao Ming is the best center right now (if you were to go by natuarl positions) and probably has the most complete post game since Hakeem. His only true weakness is his slow reactions sometimes-he's a good defender but he's slow to react sometimes, especially against smaller, quicker players. But thats expected of a 7-6 center.
But in order to truly convince the world that he IS THE BEST, he must become more aggressive, and probably more selfish. Tmac is not the same dominant player like he was, so its up to Yao to force the issue-except when we're playing against GS, Phoenix, or Utah.

I agree. Howard is not a good defender at all. he is ok for weakside help and that's all.

Again, he is still young and has a ways to go but Yao is really a better defernder than him.

He will be the best center in the NBA in a few years becasue hes only 22. But as of right now I'll say him and Yao are neck to neck. I can't say either is better right now.

Yao is much better, look at Dwight's head to head performances against Yao.

    大鲨鱼是大鲨鱼,他是唯一,同样,姚明也有他自己独特的优势,而霍华德更具有爆发力.

No....I never said Howard is a bad defender-in fact, I would say he's better than Yao in that he doesn't get burned by small, quick guards like Chris Paul, but thats not really Yao's fault because his size can possilby keep up with them. Why do you think JVG (and RA sometimes) takes Yao out during close games in the final minutes?

Howard doesn't read offensive schemes nor does he assume the position of defensive responsibility within the complete team-defense concept as well as Yao does. Perhaps soon he will, but at this point in his career, he flat out does not, and that's completely up to Howard. He certainly has the capacity to do so, and I expect sooner rather than later he's going to get it.

One major advantage Dwight Howard has over Yao is that Howard can erase at least a few of his many defensive lapses—whether they be in individual or help situations—through his sheer athleticism whereas once Yao makes a bad decision on the defensive end there is little at his disposal to prevent further damage. In this sense Yao’s margin for error is much greater than Howard’s.

no time to read the thread but DH is a PF, he needs a taller C to really supplement his game since he wants to score more

Yao honestly is the best C in the game today if he plays hard

and of course Dream is the all time best C ever, put em in wilt's era and ya dream would avg insane #s

Dream is one of the best, you can't put him right up on the top where he no doubtly belongs but I think there are other center like Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, Bill Rusell and etc.

But no doubt, Dream is one of the greatest, it is stupid to make comparison what would happen if Dream was teleported in Wilt era.
Stupid statement, someone in fifty years time will be telling the same thing, and basketball players then will be I suppose much better than they're now, like all very very tall and athletic, quick.

Akeem & the CBA all stars, cuz half our team came from the D league

half the damn lakeshow in the 80's was an all star team
did u watch worthy play in college, he was a freak
add in the rest of the team and it was just a crazy team
