Yeah, let's say Howard isn't the best and post stats that make him look better than Yao.

    LOL..no kidding.

I have one too. Yao is not taller than Dwight.

    Yao - 7'6"

    Dwight - 6'11"

I would trade Yao for him so fast your head would spin.

    And I love Yao.

But Dwight is a better athlete and can keep up with EVERY team...and plays with more fire and attitude.

As much as I dislike Amare's one dimensional no-defense game, the Suns still beat the Magic tonight.

Dwight Howard's game not is not all-around, he relies way too much on athletic ability and no finesse. There's a fat chance he'll be the next Shawn Kemp in the future. When his hops is gone and his athletic ability is gone, he'll be another Shawn Kemp.

I nominate this as the dumbest post of the year. Some of your GARM posts come close, but this takes the cake.

What I don't get with Dwight is that he is so powerful and physically dominating in the NBA regular season yet looks pretty average against international post players who tend to be smaller and less athletic.

I'm not doubting his physical ability but with all of the Shaq comparisons he gets he should be eating EVERYONE alive on the block.

international games employ a lot of zones which limit his effectiveness, and he's not the focal point of the offense with kobe, bron and melo on the team.

So you're saying cause the Suns are a better team than the Magic Amare is better than Dwight??? You must also be one of the dum@sses that think we should T-Mac for friggin Manu just cause he's won more games.

When was the last time we saw Kemp put up 23.8 ppg and 15.0 rpg???? Cause that's what Dwight is putting up right now.

These are Kemp's career regular season averages:

Not that I'm hating on Shawn Kemp. He was a monster. But part of Kemp's decline was his weight problem and lack of motivation. I don't see that happening with Dwight. He's got too much class.

Are you even old enough to have seen Shawn Kemp play? If so, DID you see him play? My guess is fat chance.

Also, the only reason the game was close was because Howard carried the Magic on his back. He and Turkey-Glue were the only two Magic players to show up. And Howard doesn't have a great PG like Nash to spoon feed him either or he might have had 45 points.

Apparently, Dwight Howard has arrived in the public eye. He has a nickname, and it is Superman.

No, he can't steal Shaq's nickname. He should just stick with "man-child."

Watched the game and my opinion is still the same. Great finisher. Average defender at best. I still think he will exceed Yao at some point but he isn't there yet....

I never really thought of Shaq as Superman. Shaq was Shaq. He thought of -himself- as Superman.

My whole post was tongue-in-cheek, since Marv Albert kept calling Dwight Superman. It remains to be seen if he can back it up- I do believe he has the tools to do so.

    he's still very raw.

it took yao 5-6 yrs to get to near superstar level. unless you're just a physical beast like shaq, most big men take a while to develop.

howard is a beast himself in terms of finishing around the rim. but he wasn't as physically intimidating as shaq. so i think you have to give howard another 2-3 years to see if he can develop any low post game. he's improving though.

yao's still better than him as of right now. but yao's been in the L for 6 years. howard is still only 21.

From the way that Howard played Yao tonight, it seems Howard himself thinks Yao is a better center than him. :D
