That era is gone. The illegal defense rules changed. That is what NBA history shows us. No team is running a low post centric offense anymore, even those teams with low post players who actually have an assortment of moves. And that has nothing to do with Harden, honestly. If Howard could have more time to isolate a defender and the help couldn't cross the court like the old days, then sure, Howard in the post is a money move. But even Olajuwon has noted that those days are gone. The Rox are the second team in a row with the same issues with Howard.
This is no longer true. People now know what's up. Howard is a headcase. He's done this every place he's been and it's all over the media that he's a liar now. he was just called a liar on the Jump today and they didn't talk about Morey at all or even bring up the fact that Terry clarified that's how much a non issue Morey is in this. The results are in - It's all Dwight.
Yep, i mean, Dwight (it's not hard to notice) is also very stiff in his movements, that's why it's also hard to pass him the ball well, he can't react fast, he can't bend...
This is a thing that is bothering me with Howard. He complains about not having the opportunity when it has been there. He led the league in post touches per game in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. He was 3rd overall in 2013-2014. Mind you the measure of post touches is "Touches that originate from a pass and reception within 12 feet of the basket." So that might include lobs. But the point remains the same: he has had his chances.
Damn, can't watch...i would appreciate if you could make a recap when you want. Or should i just summon JR?
Dude, Dwight may have a bad rep, but you're in denial if you don't think the Rockets have a bad rep too. It's not like all the free agents were lining up to come to Houston before and after Dwight. Remember Carmelo? Remember Bosh? And on, and on. Dwight is the convenient scapegoat right now, but wait until he leaves and watch the other free agents avoid the Rockets if possible.
Dude watch ESPN! He is being called a liar right now. They have Terry's response and all the things Dwight said. They are even talking about him lying about Barkely and Magic. They are making fun of him and they don't believe Morey would say no like that. They've been doing this all day. THEY ARE LITERALLY SINGING "WHY YOU ALWAYS LYING" ON THE JUMP. YOU ARE DELUSIONAL AS DWIGHT.
What are you arguing? "Whether you like Howard's game or not he has verifiable proof on his resume that he can take a team to the promise land without the best post moves." So why is he wanting to be something he's not? Why didn't he just thrive playing off the PNR with Lin, Parsons, Lawson, and Harden? I mean we had all these guys to run it with and he failed with each one. Failed to run it in LA. No, listen to him. He's telling you what he wants and you are ignoring it. He wanted to be Hakeem and Kareem and when that failed he didn't own up to it like Jeff B said. Instead he should have either owned up to his failure and went back to being the elite garbage/defense player he was or just I don't know...work harder? I don't think he has the footwork or touch to EVER be those guys he trained with and really he was wasting his time trying to be a player he could never be. It'd be like trying to make Harden into Kyle Korver or Curry trying to become a slasher on a Jordan/Wade level. Should have stuck to his strengths and took pride in being an elite defensive center who scores on PNRs and cleaning up on OREBs. As for Harden, stop making this about Harden. This is about Dwight Howard. Tired of every single rocket thread there is someone trying to make it about Harden. This is about Howard and Howard only. Just on the Jump both Steven Jackson and this other guy said Dwight was probably just straight up lying, something he's done before by the way. Terry tells a different story. I don't know what story you tell of Dwight, but I'm going to believe the one that players and coaches have all said about him and it's not very favorable.
This is pretty much it. The only way Dwight is a threat to score is if he catches it with a foot on the restricted area. He has to be THAT CLOSE to have a chance. He's none of those players, Kanter is like 2 levels above him in that area in fact. Dwight should be comparing himself to DeAndre Jordan and Chandler in his prime and there is nothing wrong with that at all. also eqsharp brings back Orlando days but he seems to forget that was a different Dwight. That was a Dwight that had springs that could send him to the roof in a standstill jump and a dwight that could beat forwards down the court. That Dwight is GONE, thanks to age and surgeries. Big men do usually get better with age but Dwight has to realize that his career should be a lot more like Mutumbo and not Hakeem. Honestly that's who the Rockets should have brought in to help him out mentally. Should have had Mutumbo tell him you can be an all time great doing what I did too and look at how long I did it.
Man, I never had an issue with Dwight. I read an heard all the criticisms past and present and wondered if he's just a guy that's not understood. He gets on TNT and he comes off ok, although (to me) he was sort of pointing fingers at Harden and the team with out actually doing it (if that makes sense). But this interview makes him look really bad in my opinion. He says on TNT, for he and Harden to gel, they needed to put aside their egos. How was he putting his ego aside for the team by requesting the ball more and being "disinterested" for part or all of the season when he didn't get his way? I mean, the guy just admitted publicly that he wasn't trying. The team desperately needed defense, rebounding and an inside presence and he ignored it all for his own agenda. And, he did all of this while saying all he wants is to win championships, saying he's willing to sacrifice for the team, even to go as far as saying he can't watch the Finals because it pisses him off. The guy talks out of both sides of his mouth and his actions don't match what he says. Everyone has pretty much trashed Harden this whole season (and into the offseason) and, while he's far from perfect or should be held to the fire to some degree to what happened this season, I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing said about him from past or present players or coaches. That Thunder team loved him and HATED when he was traded. I haven't heard anything bad about him from any former Rocket players and, in fact, I've seen him have really good chemistry with guys like Parsons and Lin. On the other hand, all I've heard is bad stuff coming from each of Dwight's other two teams he's played for. I highly doubt Morey and the organization promised him more post-ups, etc. I'm willing to believe that they pitched him on "Hey Dwight, you would make us a contender. Your defensive presence, rebounding, your ability to finish at the rim. You would really compliment Harden well and we can build around you two and become a champion. Plus, we have two hall-of-fame big men available so you can continue to work on your post game." He loved the love he was getting. Now, just like in Orlando and L.A., that love has diminished big time and, instead of getting to work, grinding and doing whatever it takes to win, he just stops playing. Why would a team, a GM, an owner about to write big checks want to commit to a guy who just admitted he didn't play with any effort when he didn't get his way? The guy wants to be Shaq, well I guarantee you that if Shaq didn't get his way, we would go out every night and put opponent players in the basket every time he got a chance to show his team and whoever else how good he is. Again, never been a Dwight hater but this interview just rubbed me the wrong way and showed a bad pattern in his career that sort of opened my eyes as to why he has such a bad rep with players around the league.
i just want to add again.. that Dwigh is such a fake ass mofo douche bag.. hope he opts out and goes and sucks somewhere else
