Another **** on Dwight thread. How original. Fans at each others throats while FatDork and Le$ laugh their asses off. Sad times.
I was on Dwight's side, now I hope he is on the Rockets opposite side. We have Super Ego throwing his former team under the bus. He just needs to keep quiet, be a team player. Instead he goes on a world tour to defend himself when it is his fault for not playing to his contract and failing to become an All-Star. Only the current Rockets management let these players run the show without a coach who truly represents coach. Remember Beverly was going through the toll road like a superstar. No coach, Harden becomes wild child and Dwight becomes loud child. Time to get the zoo back in order, Mr Alexander.
That is some sweet irony. He ran that line into the ground all season, then admits his ego allowed him to quit on the team.
He tried... But you have to keep in mind the flexibility Morey gets when Dwight leaves as opposed to getting a players you might not be able to get rid of in exchange for Dwight. I think that's why they are heavily considering D'antoni. That sends a clear sign to Dwight "We don't want you back".
Who played well vs portland...not james...who lead the team in game 6 vs LAC...not james...but Dwight is supposed to run up and down the court while awful 3pt shooters chuck up terrible shots?? Oh ok
Everybody wants to blame somebody, but it makes no difference who you blame... Harden, Howard, JB, Morey or Les... The real issue is this organization is one big mess and with Les doing the coaching search it doesn't look like it will get any better. Why would Durant or any other big name free agent would want to come here and play? As more info keeps seeping out to the press the worst the organization looks. T_Man
Dwight leaving and the potential moves in the offseason was something I looked forward to it. But now...Pringles.
Hiring a coach as a means to getting rid of a player is ridiculous. You hire him because you believe he is the best choice. If you feel there is someone bringing down the team then have some nuts and confront it as a man. Morey ho played Dwight and the went into hiding while Dwight gets **** on for "quitting" when countless nights he was the only one out there showing heart. Thanks to all the pathetic players on this team who couldn't make routine basketball passes to a big man it became a damn circus. Then Harden lost faith and said **** it only way we're gonna win is if I go full Kobe and everyone knows you never go full Kobe. I don't blame Dwight for venting and wearing his feelings shows he cared. ****ing over players and coaches seems to have become the reputation for this franchise and it's really hard to be loyal to people like that.
Need to keep in mind that Dwight 'mailed it in' not only on offense, but also defensively. People love to blame all of our defensive problems on Harden, but in my eyes Dwight was just as much responsible, if not more, for why we were so dysfunctional defensive team. How many times did we see Dwight just blatantly refusing to challenge shots? He was extremely slow on rotations and got killed by perimeter shooters every time there was a mismatch. Dwight didn't even box out most of the time and only went for the easy rebounds. At certain point, I realized there was something wrong with Dwight's defensive performance. Capela-Harden or even D-mo-Harden combination was pretty solid defensively, why is it that every time Harden shared the court with Dwight, our team defense goes to sh** ? Either Dwight was going through massive decline defensively due to loss of athleticism, or it had to be the case that he was mentally check-out. Now I see that it was probably both. Dwight was supposed to be our anchor on defense and our best defensive player. Imagine Harden playing like crap on offense (and so does the team), then comes out at the end of the season that he basically mailed in in for the entire year, due to some trivial issue that only he sees as a problem. That would have had a catastrophic impact on our team's morale and would explain so much as to why we were so horrible on offense. That's basically what Dwight did to us defensively this season.
No offense but the points you've are sort of irrelevant but I think you know that. I could run off a list of whats wrong with this post but at this point it's like beating a dead horse. I get you're a fan of Dwight but the dude clearly said he quit because he's not getting the ball. I'm not sure what exactly is left to defend here. I mean are you in favor of running the entire offense through a player who can't shoot, can't shoot free throws and can't post up? Does that make sense to you? I mean we might as well run the offense through Capella if that's the case. He's a lot cheaper and less of a whiny b****. Dwight already getting the most post touches in the league.
Dwight is too scared to add new elements to his game because he's scared to fail. That, among all that other mess he said sticks out to me more than anything. He says he was talking 1,000 shots a day (I guess around the key, Marc Gasol kind of shots) and never once tried it, never once goes to his coach "Hey, I've been working on this what you think?" and just kept it to himself or something? At least Harden isn't afraid to fail, he's ready and willing to put the team on his back and take the ridicule for the team's failure. This guy who faces a double team in the WCF and still tries to make the right play. and instead turns it over and faces the ridicule of doing that. That whole scared to shoot thing will always stick out in my mind about Dwight. Especially after reading that Hakeem article about how he wanted to improvise the position and he wasn't scared to face up and try and cross a guy over. It's just...that mentality of that quote is definitely not the attitude of a winner. Kobe knew it then.
That is what being "the man" is all about. You shoulder the accolades with the criticism. And you don't whine about it. That was the challenge Wade said Harden would face after the trade bringing Beard to Houston. And Beard has done a fantastic job dealing with it, honestly.
Great points, and dead on. It's pretty hard to understand why a team's defense would completely fall apart from one year to the next with basically the same personnel -- until you realize that the centerpiece of that defense is half-assing it most of the time. I agree completely. When I read that, I lost all respect for Dwight as a player. You're getting max money to be a superstar, yet you're afraid to evolve your game because people won't like you as much if you miss shots? SERIOUSLY?!?
Yep. That line he said about him mailing it in last season could contradict so many quotes he had in that article from his quote about putting egos aside to him crying when he watches the NBA Finals. If he cared that much, he wouldn't have been mailing it in.
