<a href="http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=irocit">Another dork is born</a> I wish I had so many more... I love dvd format.
Actually, there will be an 'extended edition' but - and I think this was true of Fellowship of the Ring - they will have different 'special features'. So even if you have the first one, the bonus material will be different from what's in the Extended version. I guess it's supposed to make it worth it no matter which you buy, or if you get both. If you're into that sort of thing.
Wait until Nov and buy the one with the 45 minutes of extra footage. Why would you want to own the shorter one? The Extended Fellowship of the Ring was worth the extra 4 months wait. (and no my 1000th post is not worth its own thread)
Does anyone know if there is going to be an extended cut box set with all three Lord of the Rings movies? That would be sweet.
You mean a second extended edition? That would be r****ded. That would be a... 12 CD box set? And they would have go in and re-edit the extended edition and make it even longer than 4 hours? I don't think that will happen man. However, I'm holding out for a Matrix extended box set.
My collection is approaching 370 titles. My most recent purchases were Old School(unrated), Hero(Region 3), T2 Extreme Edition, and 28 Days Later(Region 2). And I've got Black Hawk Down(3-disc set), Opportunity Knocks, and Midnight Run on the way. And yes, I count multi-disc sets like TV shows as one DVD. It would get too complicated if I counted each individual disc in a set. The first 6 seasons of Buffy would equate to 33 DVDs.
If anyone is interested I am selling my Something about Mary special edition on Ebay. And Fight Club - brand new. Also I've got an extra copy of the 2 disc OOP Fight Club Special Edition, brand new. Email me if you are interested. I'm thinking of putting it on ebay also.
I have about 40 or so. Would be more, but the checks haven't been coming in yet. I bought 3 yesterday : european vacation, old school, and scent of a woman. I'm the type of guy who will buy a dvd of a movie I have not seen. Don't know why. I haven't seen LOTR2 yet, but I'm gonna buy it. I can't wait to buy more. I htink I may set a rule of 1 or 2 a week. Maybe not.
My wish list is up to 306 titles and still growing. Do I ever have a hope of getting all of these? Especially since new movie will be coming out at a rapid pace. http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=3&id=nomar
I was going to start another thread, but all you DVD freaks seem to be looking at this thread, so I might as well post here. I'm about to start looking for a new DVD player. I have a Playstation 2, but the picture isn't totally clear on my 61" HDTV. I want to get a good DVD player that will accommodate widescreen well and be crystal clear. My current picture is good, but I might as well spend the coin on the DVD player since I have the nice TV. DUCK2324, since you're the only other person I know with a 61" HDTV, and look like a DVD freak, what kind of player do you have specifically? Can you tell a big difference playing the DVD's on the 61" HDTV on the Playstation vs. the progressive scan player? Thanks in advance!
Hey Goophers The progressive DVD player is the absolute best picture you can get with a HDTV. The progressive is ONLY designed for a HDTV TV because you have to use the Red,Blue,Green connections and only HDTV's have those. I personally have a panasonic Progressive Scan DVD player that I got from Circut City. I was on a budget when I got it so I did not go for one of the more high end models that are store like HomeEntertainmet Store or Tweeter. I believe I paid about $250 for mine about a year and half ago. You can get a good high end one at one of the above mentioned stores for about $300-$400.
No problem. Wait till you get to watch a DVD movie in HD and with DTS 7:1 surround sound it will blow your mind away. VERY Realistic
This is what scares me. What if I get this huge DVD collection. Then some new technology comes and makes them obsolete. That would be so irritating.
I just counted my collection, and I've got 229 DVDs (counting the full Monty Python collection, as well as each full television season, as 1 each). My most recent purchases were South Park, Season 2 and Buffy, Season 4.
