there aren't any dvds I have that I want to get rid of. But there are some I would think of trading. Like I have the regular edition Fight Club(unopened) and Pulp Fiction that I would like to trade/sell to get the special editions. What do you have that you want to trade?
I loved Shakespeare in Love. The wordplay and way they play around with intertwining facts from Shakespeare's life into the fiction is very funny. Also, if you can't find someone to trade with you, try selling it on EBay or Amazon, it's pretty easy, plus the shipping is cheap since you can use media rate.
I have hundreds and a ton of them unopened. With 2 kids it is cheaper to buy the movie when it comes out on DVD and watch it when we can. DD
baahahah.. . good one Dr! here are some of my recent purchases: - Brazil (not the criterion version) - Jerry Seinfeld: Comedien I have about 20+ dvd's. More to come...
Whoohooo, i just purchased my 100th DVD. I just bought Vanilla Sky, Coyote Ugly, and Rounders on order from Best Buy last week, each were only $10. Here is my list Dave's DVD list I swore I made a thread like this awhile back maybe late 2001 but didnt know sites like DVD Aficiondo and typed each title by hand. I am a freak for DVDs and never going to stop buying them. Worst DVD I got for free with the player: Matilda (traded it in) Worst DVD I owned just cause the movie sucked: hmmm, I guess The New Guy cause Eliza Dushku was in it Worst DVD owned because of the transfer: True Lies Best DVD owned due to the repeat viewing factor: Ocean's Eleven Best DVDs owned due to special fx/sound: Matrix / MI2 Best DVD I got for free with the player: Lethal Weapon 4 I would like to add a few catagorys: DVDs I bought cause it was in the DIRT CHEAP bin at Walmart: Kissing a Fool, Brokedown Palace, Whatever it Takes DVDs I bought just cause it was cheap and everybody tells you to watch it: Donnie Darko and Boondock Saints and another thing, how many dvd players do you have in your household? I think I am the only person I know that has 3! One in the living room, my Xbox, and my laptop, but hook it up to my TV to watch DVDs in my room.
Got you beat on the DVD player count. My laptop, my desktop, my PS2, one in my bedroom, one in my living room. 5.
I'm starting to build my collection now that I got so pissed off at my PS2 that I smashed it and bought a Panasonic DVD player with a home theater system My current DVD list A List Lord of the Rings : Fellowship of the Ring 8 Mile Big Daddy Dumb and Dumber Black Sheep Beverly Hills Ninja Simpsons Season 1 Simpsons Season 2 Earnest Goes to Camp (5 bucks at wal-mart) Celtic Price (ditto) UHF B List Star Wars Episode 2 American Pie 2 Van Wilder How High Joe Dirt Not Another Teen Movie (Ok yes, I bought it to pause the scenes with the topless chick) 50 cent's New Breed Greatest NBA Finals Moments
My advice is to NOT buy a DVD just because its cheap or you got a good deal on it. Its a waste to buy a DVD that you are never going to watch. I thought I was getting a great deal when I bought 3 used DVDs for $20 at blockbuster. Well I watched Unbreakable once, Training Day once, and have yet to watch The Grinch. I could have just rented the two movies I watched and saved about $14 and a little shelf space. My favorite DVD to date is LOTR Extended Cut. I'm still working my way through all the audio comentaries (I usually find these very boring but not with LOTR). Side question: does anyone know if their is going to be an extednded cut version of the Two Towers? From now on I'm only going to buy DVDs of movies I absolutely love and am sure to get use out of.
I'm more of a CD fanatic. It's not uncommon for me to buy a CD and only listen to it once. Sometimes I'll even buy an artist's crappy early CD's just so I have their complete collection. I probably have around 800 right now, and that's after selling A LOT of my old ones. DVDs...I have around 50. Just joined columbia house and got Lone Star, Big Lebowski, JFK, Royal Tennebaums, Signs, and Black Hawk Down. I bought a couple tv show DVDs like the Simpsons, X-Files, and Buffy, but the only reason I did that was because I was planning on buying the whole collection. Those X-Files DVDs are just ridiculous. $120? Screw that.
Yep, don't buy the first release of Two Towers in August there will be an extended version released in November same as last time. Oh yeah I've got somewhere between 250 and 300 DVDs. Translation: I've got a problem.
I have a pretty small collection, but I like most of them: Most Watched: True Romance, LOTR Extended Other Favs: The Princess Bride Series: Friends Season 1, soon to be followed by Season 2 & 3 (found them for $30 online) Want to buy (must be $10 or less): Kiss of the Dragon, The Crow Will Buy: LOTR 2 Extended (when it comes out in November) Sadly, most of these are non-widescreen - and I just bought a widescreen TV. On the same note, when I bought my DVD player 8 months ago, I didn't get a progressive scan player and saved $60. Of course now I have the HDTV and want one.
Dave2000 and bailey are multiple dvd households, anyone else with more than 2? I have a dvd player for my laptop, desktop, tv room, and the latest one I bought yesterday, a $45 apex for my office! I attempted to purchase a device that was supposed to play dvd's from my pc to my tv... didn't work, so I broke down and bought a player specifically for my office tv! 3 in one room!
I am actually in the process of moving and had to pack up my collection. I decided to put them in one of those CD carry cases. I filled a 200 disk case, and about a quarter of a 124 CD case. This does include 2 seasons of the Soprano's which takes up like 12 DVD's. At last count I had like 150 movies, but that changes each week as I can't stop buying them.
I own a whopping total of 2 DVDs - Nashville and Donnie Darko. I got the former as a gift after complaining that none of the local Schlockbusters had a copy and I bought the latter because (1) it's a cool movie and (2) it was dirt cheap ($9.99). I'll probably never own alot of DVDs simply because I spend most of my recreational money elsewhere.
My friend has about 350 DVDs...he's on his third DVD rack. Of course, he counts those multi disc sets of TV shows and special editions of movies as one DVD, so his complete collection is probably in the 400-425 range... He's 25 and still lives at home, though, so terms like "rent" and "mortgage" and "electricity bill" are still foreign to him...
I may have you beat. I know I'm close to 300....might be over. Sadly, I know I have more than ten of them unopened.
