I have both, but that's because I insist on owning the original theatrical cut of a film whenever possible. The Extended Edition has almost 30 additional minutes of footage, a crapload of extras(none of which are on the 2-disc set), a slightly better-looking transfer, and a DTS 6.1 Discrete audio track which was actually better than the amazing DD 5.1 EX track on the 2-disc release. So I guess if you had to choose one over the other, go with the Extended one. The only real reason to own the 2-disc set is if you'd like to have the theatrical version(and if you want the trailers and the Enya music video).
You have to own GANGS OF NEW YORK that was an awsome movie. It took 2 DVD to watch the entire movie. There is a cigerette break in the middle
I'm totally kickin' it to DMB's Listener Supported in preparation for my four shows in the next three weeks. And by "kickin' it", I mean totally dancing around my apartment. "Honey, honey...come and dance with me!"
If there is any Hollywood Video in your area, I would suggest that because they have a sale going on Previously Viewed DVDs 2 for $20 and they usually carry a large selection including some old ones.
Speaking of that Dave, if you guys have a Movie Gallery near your house they have a buy 2 get 2 free DVD sale going on right now... They have some good stuff. I have been buying the Royal Tenenbaums Criterion Collection DVDs, I've paid about $28 for 8 of the 2 disc dvd sets.
There's yet another re-release of American Pie(and the sequel) coming out in a few weeks to cash in on American Wedding. You might wanna wait and get that version. I'm sure you'll be able to find a really nice deal, and there's a chance it could include a free ticket to the third film.
I am now up to 393 movies. http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=dirtyduck74 I picked up Basic, Phonebooth, Predator2, Office Space and the How High/Undercover Brother 2 pack for $20
I can NOT wait for the Indiana Jones Pack to come out. I noticed you can now pre order it for November's release. I hope they add sceens since that they cut out being that it has taking so long to release
I'm pretty sure the specs I saw included deleted scenes. But they're only gonna be on the 4th disc, not re-inserted into the films. Which is good, cuz I wanna see these movies as they were originally shown in theaters, not altered or "updated" like Lucas did with the Star Wars Special Editions. The only rumored change to the films is the possible digital removal of the snake's reflection in the glass in Raiders. Otherwise, they're leaving them the same.
I just preordered Indy for $25 at Amazon, I used Share the Love and a $15 gift certificate plus free shipping. I'm up to 126 DVDs, plus I have several good DVDs on ebay... Since I've started this thread I've added 16 dvds and probably sold 25 on ebay.
