Outside of the pedophilia, I could support their positions. There is no need to hide sex from children, and doing so just makes them repress their feelings, possibly leading to a complex. Plus, who doesn't want free train rides.
As far as I am concerned - anyone who commits any kind of sexual abuse of a child should be jailed for life or permanently institutionalized. Pediophiles should not be allowed to mix in society. There have violated the social contract and have no right to life amongst children. It's sickening that pedophiles can be released from jail and walk amongst kids. The recent ACLU push for pedophiles "rights" is an absolute joke. They lost their rights when they touched a child. Sickening. They are a disease. It's too bad we have politicians that worry about pot smokers when people like this are walking around.
I wouldn't say I support it, but I don't know that it needs to be a criminal offense. As long as the animals are not being hurt, I don't think the government needs to get involved. People do gross things, but if they aren't hurting anybody they should be left alone.
It's one of two or three legitimate animals rights issues, because they have no choice in the matter so it's theoretically "rape." It provides no practical purpose for humans (food or clothing), and there are possible health risks.
Kids can't deal with sex, nor the psychological, emotional or biological implications thereof. No sex-ed until puberty.
Hey Hayes: I found the swirling vortex of doom! Amusingly, I thought of your sig almost instantaneously. I read this board too much...
i'm gonna ask a question that if i were sitting across from you i could ask without sounding like a jackass...but in the context of the written word of the internet will make me sound smug. here it goes. do you have children? my oldest son is 6. he has very little concept of sex. he thinks it's gross when i kiss my wife. it stops there. that's ok. it's ok to let kids be kids. we rush kids into adulthood way too quickly in our society, now. sex education in junior high makes sense to me.
It would be surpring to me but when South Park did an episode featuring NAMBLA and I found out it was a real organization next to nothing on this subject shocks me anymore.
there was some medical journal that came out in the late 90's and had an article that people were pre-disposed to pedophilia..and that it really didn't cause much harm in kids. needless to say it was attacked by everyone...and they ultimately recanted the story. or at least backed away from it, if i remember right.
I have kids and I do not think that there is anything wrong with being open about sex. Honestly, I feel that if you wait until junior high then you have waited too long. I think if you make things taboo (and I'm not saying that you are implying that) or avoid a subject at an early age then it makes them more interested in it when they are finally confronted. Kids are always going to be interested in sex and they are going to find out about from someone or some source regardless if we educate them or not. I'd rather be that source than some moron kid that really has no idea what the hell he/she is talking about or worse, TV or the internet. Sex is all around us and the image that is portrayed via the media is not what sex really is and it absolutely is not what I want my kids growing up thinking is normal. Sex is more than just sticking it in or looking sexy or whatever. Unfortunately our society gives sex this image that it really is not. I'd want my kids growing up knowing that that image is not healthy. I want them to know what sex and relationships and everything else is really about. I also want them to know that they can openly talk to me about the subject and that they are not going to get some bull**** answer. We dont sit and talk about sex everyday but it is not a taboo subject even with my kids being 5 and 8. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable but we have had some open dialog in the past. Personally, I try not to shelter my kids as much as possible. If they know what they are up against and have the ammunition to fight it, I feel that they will not have nearly as many problems adjusting later in life. I do not feel that I'm making my kids be adults too early, I'm just not hiding the real world from them.
I agree with Master. We have to equip our kids to live in the world not shelter them from it. I don't think we should sit down kindergartners for sex ed class but I think we need to honestly answer their questions as they arise and try to develop an open realtionship that they are comfortable to ask. Honestly addressing their questions at the level they are at is healthy -- forcing information on them they may not be ready to handle isn't.
Is masturbating animals to collect their semen rape? They have no choice in that either. How about locking two animals in a cage so that they will mate? It is not really an issue that I have given much thought to, but if the animal is not being harmed, I have a hard time believing that we should send someone to prison for beastiality. Nope, no children. I have a question for you? Do you think children throughout history were first exposed to sex in junior high? Many were married by that time. In other contries it is not unusual to have nudity on television. We as Americans are sexually repressed, and we pass that on to our children. I think it would be best to educate kids on sex before they have a chance to start having sex, at the very least. I also think that the sooner they are exposed to it, the better they will understand it. What is it about sex in particular that makes it different from other biological processes that we must hide it, stigmatize it in some, and otherwise make it a taboo subject? Kids think poop is gross to, but we don't keep the toilet hidden from them until junior high.
