Protection. The more good hitters in a lineup, the harder it is for a pitcher to work around a lineup. Staggering increases the odds that the bases will be empty when a player hits a homer. That said, I don't really care too much when a player rests as long as they get rested often to keep players playing at a high level when they play. The synergy between good hitters isn't likely that big a factor such that staggering likely wouldn't cost too many runs.
Missing Gurriel and his amazing 0.670 OPS that everyone wants to replace in the lineup doesn't seem to be a big deal. Going forward, there's a decent chance that key players will get more than 1 out of every 9 games off, so it's likely that 2 people will rest on many days.

Do you think Dusty is a reason why the Astros didn't win the WS the last 2 years? I think the Astros overachieved and that's often credited to a manager. The grips fans have about Dusty are mostly moot in the playoffs. He of course plays the best lineup every game and as long as the best pitchers are available, they are used.
That seems to be the minimum for the most part. A few scattered games have all starters, but they are rare.
So you pick two games where he does stagger the days off which in your brain means this is what he always does???? Hmm.
The only time I think the Astros have significantly under or over achieved under his watch was the 2020 regular season, although I wouldn't put that squarely on Dusty.
They just happen to be the games on the exact day you complained. The exact players you said he'd rest together. It doesn't matter what Dusty does - some fans just want to complain about it.
Are they? They played all their starters for all 3 game in Seattle. The 2 games prior to that were a doubleheader when you never play all your starters in both games anyway.
I would like it to be on record that I only b**** about Dusty's decisions when I don't agree with them
Again...even though it worked...having Chas on the bench and Diaz in the bottom of the lineup vs a LHP yesterday was not ideal.
While I understand what you are saying, and I agree with that not being a good coaching decision, after an 11 run game I think you just have to keep it to yourself.. for that game at least. Dusty will do this again with a lefty pitcher, complain then.
