There is no excuse to not play Chas. He has earned the CF spot over a number of years and unquestionably this season. Pretending he is a part time player at this point is borderline delusional. He has put in the work, shown up every time he is given the opportunity, and makes huge contributions to winning. Sure, there are a lot of talented players on this team, but Chas is clearly at the top of the list for his position. I love Brantley, but frankly, handing him the spot in the lineup immediately upon his return is disrespectful to Chas and everyone else who has put in the work all season. A coach that plays favorites shows immaturity and lack of awareness, not to mention, stupidity. That being said, this team is good enough to sustain bad coaching decisions, and his stupidity did not cost them a world series. And I expect them to make it there again this year. Frankly, the easy solution is to play Abreu less. He's playing better, but is still not on par with the rest of the team, its too talented and he doesn't make the cut. Diaz obviously shopuld be playing more as well, but his lack of catching time is more understandable. If Framber and JV feel best throwing to Maldy, then they should be throwing to Maldy. Fit Diaz in the lineup another way.
His love affair for Julks and Singleton would support this. They being the only African American players on the team.
Bringing Brantley back really isn’t the issue. The issue is that Dubon has replaced Chas in CF. Chas could still easily be starting everyday in CF regardless of Brantley’s playing time.
Agree, Brantley should definitely bat as many times as he could. McCormick should start 9 out of 10 games at CF....not split 50/50.
I'm truly at a loss for words how a player who is having the season McCormick is having being a part time player in the middle of a pennant chase. He is a better player than Dubon and Brantley and has a higher OPS than Tucker. Dusty made up his mind that Chaz is just a mediocre part time player and there's nothing Chaz can do to change it. His performance on the field this year has been completely beyond dispute. The last 15 days, Dubon has 4 more PA than Chaz, who has a better OPS even over that small sample, never mind the whole season.
With our powers combined (My professional hitting and your HR bat flips) we will be unstoppable... BEHOLD... MJ Branton
Wonder how Dusty feels about Chas and the mega death lineup after today’s game? Will he go back to platooning him and Dubon ? I’m not saying players shouldn’t be getting any rest but Dusty should stick to today’s lineup for the next 4-5 games to see how it functions over a broader sample size, otherwise how does he know what he really has ?
McCormick flied out on his last AB on a 2-0 count. That's grounds for benching and Dusty is 100% justified.
Not to mention when he was asked in an interview about how much better Chas is at hitting than his other options, Dusty was quick to point out that Chas “struck out a few times last week” like what kind of manager (anywhere in life) goes out of their way to point out failures so that they don’t look as bad. That’s unprofessional at the very least from a so-called “players manager” You’ll notice he never says anything negative about maldy or meyers or dubon’s struggles. It’s only when he has to prove himself right.
