Benched in 5 of last 10. pulled for Singleton in game’s last and most crucial at bat. Chas is a part timer now and that’s that.
At the trade deadline... -Dusty "I want Chas gone" -Crane "Why do you hate him so much?" -Dusty "He just doesn't fit. Dubon's a team player and everyone likes him" -Crane "If we trade Chas, we're trading Maldy too" *moment of silence* -Dusty "Fine, keep Chas, but I'm still playing Dubon" *middle finger*
It’s Dusty’s last year. He is not putting the team first. Other agendas including a big FU to front office and fans. Sorry, I’ve never seen such a blatant case of favoritism in MLB. Dude is hitting .290 with 20 hr’s in barely over 300 at bats. .898 OPS. .373 on base %!! Dude is putting up basically mike trout numbers. How much does this cost him in arbitration? It’s debatable that Dusty cost him an all-star spot this year. Maybe Chas doesn’t get off to a slow start if Dusty just made him the CF from day 1. Maybe he’s in the running for MVP. Not saying he would win it but he might be on the short list if he had 35 hr’s and 100 rbi’s right now. He doesn’t even get to bat in the prime rbi spots in the lineup 90% of the time. edit: I gave stats from prior to the last game, where chas did nothing. Sorry if they are slightly off.
The stats clearly show that if Chas would have had double the ABs that he'd go 0-300 with an overall BA of .145. Dusty is a genius to know which ABs Chas would be best at.
No chance. He missed way too much time due to injury and his numbers weren’t near what they are now after his insane August. In the running for MVP? Getting a little carried away here.
Over a full season, his numbers would absolutely have him in the running. Again, not saying he would win. .290/40/100 with 20+ steals and .370 on base% while playing good defense in CF? Yeah he would be on the short list
40 home runs? He’s on pace for around 30-32 if you assume he plays in 150 games. Take 162 and he’s still not close to 40. He’s got nearly 400 PAs, not barely over 300 ABs like you suggested.
He has 388 plate appearances and 20 hr. Last year Kyle Tucker had 609 PA. If Chas got as many PA, he is on pace for 32 HR.
Well maybe if he was permanently planted in CF and given the same prime spot in the order every single game like Tucker in RF, instead of the yo yo treatment, his numbers would even improve. We don’t know. Also, look at when Chas was playing everyday vs the parts of the season where he wasn’t. Those numbers might be more in line with what his full season totals would project to. It would most likely be a different story if Chas was given the advantages that Tucker is given (yes I know Tuck has earned it). But yes I get that we arent quite doubling his current totals. at any rate, he should not be giving up any time to Dubon.
We are playing Dubon over a guy who there is an argument about whether he is a 32 HR guy or a 40 HR guy Makes perfect sense And people defend him
