Negative. Durant has poor ball handling skills and awful passing ability which separates him from being a superstar. He's an awesome scorer though, that's it.
What's sad is over half the people posting their grievances with Durant are really just people with an underlying issue with the University of Texas sports....
Do you have proof of this? So people who think LeBron is better just think that because they don't like the University of Texas?
EVERYONE in the NBA has some holes in their game. Durant is a solid ball handler and solid passer. It may not always look pretty but the guy is 6'10 and there are not many guys at that height in league history who can do what he does. His ill crossover and step back jumper in Game 5 should be a sign that he isn't a "horrible" ball handler. As far as Game 6 goes, people will complain about KD not working hard enough to get the ball but we all know that Shane Battier is a great defender who excels at denying the ball, and Tony Allen is one of the most underrated defenders in the league as well. As I was watching I was appalled at Scott Brooks' offensive scheme. Putting Westbrook on one wing and have KD slide over from the other wing without a single screen and try to get the ball. If he was paying attention at all throughout the game, he would have noticed them denying the ball and quickly bringing another defender over to help. A couple of staggered screens would have helped but Brooks did absolutely nothing. Coaching has to be blamed as well. Do you think Phil Jackson just let MJ and Kobe fight for all of their own shots? No, he made adjustments and ran offenses to isolate them effectively or find ways to get them open looks. If the Thunder do lose this series I can't help but put blame on Brooks.
Maybe if Durant teamed up with Dirk like Lebron and Wade did, people would have more respect for his game. Imagine if Durant, Dirk, and Dwight all teamed up to beat up on everyone else in the league, a la Yates HS. Maybe then KD could get some respect around here. The Dish seems to put bullies on a pedestal sometimes.
Same song, different verse. Rinse-Repeat of the last 25 years. Once an NBA player's reputation gets way high, people will try to bring it back down. The reasons might have validity, and they might have none, but it WILL happen. Even for the players like Durant who they try to promote as the most humble most respectful example of an NBA player for our daughters to marry, the best "anti"-example of NBA culture - even if they get too much of the GOOD reputation they'll STILL try to knock it down a couple rungs.
Durant IS a superstar, but this paragraphs reeks of you making excuses for him. Don't. He should want to take over the game and demand the ball/go get it; don't bring up weak excuses like Shane Battier as the reason he had a poor game. He had a bad game, he needs to show up next game -- the end.
It's a knee jerk thread. Western conference finals bound, clutch in game 7. that's what super stars do, they are clutch and they win playoff series.
That would still be less talent than Kobe/Gasol/Bynum/Odom/Artest or KG/Pierce/Allen/Rondo or Magic/Kareem/Worthy/Scott or Jordan/Pippen/Rodman or Moses/Doc/Cheeks or Bird/Parish/McHale/DJ. So if you had no problems with those superteams then I don't see why it would be a problem now.
Durant looked like a super star to me. I was skeptical when he first went to college and when he first went to the NBA. Not anymore.... he may not be LeBron, or Kobe in his prime yet, but his scoring is amazing, his defense has improved, his passing is solid and he can rebound...
Since when is that the criteria? Better drum half the bigs out of the HOF then. You may hate this, but he's currently a top 5 NBA player....and Kobe Bryant no longer is. Deal with it.
i would retroactively trade mcgrady for the rights to draft him, but so would anybody. Nice to speculate on the would of/could of's.
