I was under the impression HOU was hot for Cato and it wasn't a prob POR had with cato while he was there (please correct me if I am wrong though). I do believe Cato played solid as a backup last season and considering the shortage of solid backup Cs in the league I would hate to trade him away. At the same time, I don't think that the Rox have the best center tandem... until Yao steps it up, the team with the best C tandem will continue to be LAL... Shaq and whatever backup C they throw out there...
Mr. Mooch, I totally agree with you on wondering why Rudy T. would never play Yao and Cato together especially against some teams like San Antonio and Dallas who have big interior post players. The ROX HAVE TOO MANY PLAYERS WHO WANT TO SCORE. My starting five would look like this: Ming-C, Cato-PF, Posey-SF(If resigned) or Nochbar-SF, Mobley-SG, Francis-PG. And Moochie Norris would either be cut outright or become the 12th man on the bench in the mode of M.L. Carr!!!!!!!! With this line up, the ROX have three scorer only and a defensive stopper and a rebounder/shotblocker. This would add more balance to the offense and the big three can take 80-to 85 percent of the ROX shots. I would then hire Mike Dunlevy and let the ROX run and gun. No more one on one isolation or dribbling out the clock before you take a rushed shot with two seconds on the shot clock. Change for the ROX is good!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope we keep Cato. He finally started to earn some of that paycheck last year. He worked hard and rebounded. Remember he always said he did not want to start. Bring him in off the bench and he is great. Still not quite worth his contract, but a great player to have.
