Finally !! Someone who recognizes the effectives of the dunk !! It's nothing new though, Scola, Hayes, Battier, Yao and now Artest and T-mac are starting to make shots harder than they have to be. If they would try to dunk every hard lay-up, we would get a lot more and-1's, a lot more opponents in foul trouble, the fans excited, the game more beautiful to watch and the adrenaline flowing.
I know it was an abvious goaltend but you know, it was Lakers' floor where they always get 'good' calls. But anyway, in the NBA you need to want it more and you gotta take it STRONG to the rim. Especially if you are McGrady.
The problem is most of our players can't dunk. TJack is gimpy, Yao is too soft, Scrubola, Hayes, Battier, Artest aren't athletic enough (and are too shrimpy). And you can forget Head, Alston, Brooks and Barry.... (Note that some of our players *can* dunk ... but they can only do it under ideal conditions). So that kills the highest percentage shot in basketball for the Rockets.
I don't mind if they lay it up, I just don't want them going for a lay-up when there is some trailing closely behind them or when they get to the rim in a half-court set. Dunking takes energy (especially for those who aren't as athletic or injuried like half our team, lol), but unless they go up strong, they are not going to get calls. Perfect example is the Artest play. I know Farmar cut him off and made him jump soon than he wants, but if he puts to hands on that ball, he is going to the line. Getting a block on a two-handed hand is much harder and thus refs will be more inclined to call a foul.
