What about the dunk Steve Francis had in the pre season vs the Hornets. I know the dunk didn't count and there was a foul on Francis, but it was a nasty dunk......... Someone post video please!!!!!!
thanks for the tip about posting videos AstroRocket here's the Francis dunk <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SlZA4vrUmWE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SlZA4vrUmWE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
He only does the stuff he did in Orlando on rare occassions now. He was never a Vince Carter type dunker but he was much better than he is now. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IKkEvZTWkQc&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IKkEvZTWkQc&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
What he was in orlando is what Lebron is in cleveland now. Becoming a back to back scoring champion isn't easy. Also for his track record, EVERY team hes been on has made the playoffs every year, he always takes a bunch of scrubs and rookies to the playoffs, except for that one yr where him and Yao were both injured so that doesn't count But boy was that McGrady athletic as hell. And to the people that said he lost a step, didn't you watch the first 2 weeks of rockets ball? He was the leading scorer in the NBA and then he got injured, he looked like the 05 T-MAC, if we find him a legit backup he can still be that hes only 29...
You're right. What I noticed more than anything was how loose and relaxed his body was on those moves. Now he looks like he has a 36" rod in his back on all of his moves. I still see the elevation but I don't see the aggression or the flexibility for sure....or the confidence. Of course this is coming from a guy who just turned 30 and doesn't want to believe he can't do that same stuff he did at 22 (no matter how unspectacular I was even back then) LOL
That Landry double-pump over Lebron was straight sick. I think I screamed at the top of my lungs when that happened.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=_EVG8V5VBrY Check the 54 second mark, and compare that play to the Hornets play....it is VERY clear he has lost a step. He used to be faster on the break than even LeBron.
Yeah I've seen this video atleast ten times now. I remember back in the day he would do those crazy up and unders from one side of the back board to the other-literally he did one of those every single damn game. People forget he and Kobe were constant rivals, and the closest thing to a rivalry in the NBA during that period. Too bad he was on a Orlando team that had Andrew Declarq as the starting center
I liked this dunk from the 1st game of the season. Team effort of Yao blocking a shot, Rafer on a fast break bouncing a nifty pass to McGrady, then McGrady taking off from far back switching to the left hand for the dunk (with Kobe going for the block but coming up empty ) <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JABlkbw5cGs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JABlkbw5cGs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I think since there are some replies, I can make a poll in this thread tomorrow with the final candidates, and we can see which dunk everyone thinks is the best of the year.
I know this is a dunk thread, but much more than his speed, McGrady's jump shot was WAY different. So fluid and squared to the basket and better looking, no extra motions and hitches. Even his free throws were fluid and confident in form. I dont think anyone's much faster than Lebron down the court at that height but McGrady was noticeabely faster there
OWNAGE!!! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JABlkbw5cGs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JABlkbw5cGs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> I think we got a winner here.
DUDE...he hasn't slowed down as much as your saying...what your saying is when hes injured. People forget that the MAC at the starting of this season was like the 05 MAC. Watch this, and btw your comparing him to those days he was an athletic beast and arguably the best player in the league at the time. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TaHUsPNTgnU&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TaHUsPNTgnU&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jstlwOrmEDo&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jstlwOrmEDo&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> he has slowed down , but just a bit ( more athleticism) hes still top 3 players in the league when healthy
Boy I miss seeing TMac make it look so easy. What I would give just to see one season with him and Yao together along with our developed team. Yao on Malik is one of my favies. It's not everyday you see a seven footer get the ball 18 feet out, dribble down the lane, and literally take off for a dunk. That was more of a shocker than anything. Nastiness wise, Landry has some of the more intimidating dunks this season. Sweetness wise, TMAC on Kobe in game 1 of the season for sure. He hung in the air, switched hands, and put it in with force. And it was all a result of our defensive efforts which made it sweeter. Let's just PRAY we get a healthy squad next season and we will have MANY more of these things to choose from come this time next year.
someone needs to make an awesome high resolution wallpaper of that yao over kg dunk. by far, one of the best dunk picture captured.
It's the best dunk IMO because of the fact that Tracy had to change hands very quickly to slam it down.
Yep the biggest problem to me is that I think he is trying harder now on all of his drives and dunks than he ever did before. When you watch those orlando highlights it looked like he just effortlessly rises up and dunks. Now, to get up the same way he looks like he's giving it everything he's got. Its funny, when i see the faces he makes now during a dunk it looks like he's dropping a huge deuce but when he was at the top of his game he actually looked more "lazy" doing his moves.
