correct me if Im wrong, but didnt Yao average only 20-something minutes in the early parts of the tourney? It is just in the last couple of games where his minutes went up. and what a relief that he will be here in time for the first preseason game..at least he will have the rest of the month to get ready and get VG's system down.
Rockets2k, Cd was giving an interview on 610 and said they expect Yao here Oct 5th and he should get a workout in at galveston.
That is good point. I forgot it. Maybe for the first 2 or 3 days, JVG can work on something else, say get EG shot the ball with an arc, push Tylor to work more aggressively. Somethings like that.
Hey Rocket fans, Just finished watching the game on NBATV...some notes for you guys who missed the game: The Koreans are a very fast-paced gun-slinging three point team, they dropped so many threes... The Chinese guards suck...man they are horrendous...Yao should have got more touches but guess what? No, the chinese guards weren't selfish, instead, they couldn't even get past half court...these scrubs can even in-bound the ball properly...for the guys that did see the game, did you see the beginning of the second half, when china can even in bound the ball, koread steals it and drains multiple threes...think Reggie Miller, 2 threes in 4 seconds, yet multiple times...unbelievable....i am embarassed that such a great nation with a billion people could only come up with these scrubs as guards....take any four dudes in any Ymca in america, and Yao would get 30/20 all day at the asian tournament... About Yao: Yao was a freakin monster...when he did get the ball it was a monster two handed dunk...the other korean tall kid is not there yet, he only played six minutes and yao took his ass to school...the first play of the game yao span quickly two handed tomahawk jam all over him...it was sic...yao was also constantly staring and yelling at everyone he dunked on...he was huge, he in other words was one bad mutha....unbelievable...yao's deft passing was also spectacular...great basketball iq...his blocking skills was ferocious as well... Yao has gotten even better, and has shown some serious attitude of which everyone in america wants him to have more of...Yao's is an improved product, but will his skills be maximized in the teams plans?
I'm happy for Yao that he did well in the Asian Championship. Winning any tournament is good for the morale of a player. He will have to overcome fatigue but he needs to get in camp quickly so he can get in better shape and learn the new system as quickly as possible.
Man! Why is he wearing a NIKE shirt??? Isn't he supposed to sign with Reebok in a few days? PS Despite what I've put, the shirt still rocks ass...
Yao played much better in this game than the semifinals. He was very agressive at both ends of the court. Probably he rested against Qatar to be fresher against Korea. Not only did he have 7 blocks, but Korea dribbled out of the paint numerous times rather than attempt a shot. The coolest play was when he blocked a shot on a guy shooting a 3, and then pumped his fist and yelled at the Korean bench. He probably would have got a technical for taunting in the NBA.
seeing as yall are talkin about tha korean kid. let me point out that he looks like a neanderthal (sp? i guess i look stupid calling this kid a neanderthal when im not even sure of the spelling...) anyhow, this kid is definately toooooo soft. yao had international bball experience coming into the league. this kid is still in highschool. if this kid really wants to play in the nba, he better go to college in the states and get a better understanding of how the game is played in tha US. im not an expert on how koreans play bball but im in korea right now and ive played pickup games around seoul. from what ive observed, korean players are finess players. they dont like to bang. also the way koreans play defense just boggles my mind. if youre gonna play zone then you cant go running around the court. if youre gonna play man, you have to get in your mans face...
You are right. Yao will probably spend one day in Beijin with his girl friend, and one day in Shanghai with his parents before hopping on a plane for 17hrs of air time to get here. Poor guy!
Yao was definitely more aggressive than before. I hope he can bring that same attitude back to the NBA. Also, Yao looked just as quick as last year, it didn't seem like his added weight slowed him down. So much for the rumors...
My Fav part of the game is when he Dunked it on one of the Korean players and Just screamed in his face and stared him down. I was like What the Hell got into Yao!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!And then when he slammed the ball in the 4th and just hung on the rim and stared down his man again. There was no stopping Yao Ming. Hide the Women and children here comes YAO MING!!Everyone will feel his wrath in the NBA, (cept Shaq )
Matter of fact, I want to see my R.ebublic O.f C.hina in the Paint showing that same kind of aggressiveness against the best. That tis all.. Go Ming!!
