It's the Sprite "Rising Stars" Dunk Contest.

Only players in their 3rd season or less can compete.

Carney's on the verge of signing a 10-day with the Grizzlies.

Those 2 screen-shots of the takeoff and attempted finish are INSANE. The raw athleticism that man possesses is just off the charts.

I wish he could have played with the '07 Memphis squad that featured D. Rose, Dorsey, CDR, and Antonio Anderson... one of the most athletically gifted teams in the history of college hoops, IMO.

Then why was Nate Robinson (drafted in 05) allowed to participate in 2010?

He tried so hard to pull off that dunk that the ball is actually deformed (smashed) on the rim.

This was a great slam dunk contest that doesn't get talked about a lot because it was in Russia:

But, James White, Gerald Green, and Pops put on a show.

James White's free throw line dunk at 2:55 could have been done at the 3 point line, he has to duck so he doesn't hit his head on the rim. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Very nice ideas, but not entertaining at all, plus griffin's last dunk any average dunker could have done it.

From Ibaka's twitter: "Thanks @KDthunderup and @russwest44 for their help with the dunk contest. We had great stuff prepared... Also my teammates for their support"

Would've been a great 2nd round with him or Derozan. :/

after multiple reviews, did anyone else notice Cheryl Miller when McGee's mom popped up.

She had the "oh no, this b**** didn't" look

I despise Cheryl Miller with a passion.

She's the worst sideline reporter/analyst in the history of the sport.

i thought it was entertaining! Griffin is a beast, as he damn near knocked every dunk on the 1st try! But I agree, his previous dunks were better than the last (and maybe, that's why he went crazy extravagant with the last dunk over the car...hood)! Ibaka was definitely my favorite! Serge's wingspan and length is sick! And not too many disappointing dunks throughout the contest! 8/10

The non-NBA contests tend to have better dunking intimate "atmosphere" and crowd around it. Dunking enthusiasts appreciate seeing guys dunking it off at the gym. They see it for its simplicity. The NBA contest gets promoted to a bunch of regular people and celebs who wouldnt normally be into it. Too wide and broad a fan base maybe.

Right. And because of that, why should players WANT to even enter the contest to begin with? If I were Derozan or Ibaka, if I was to get another dunk invite I'd tell them screw off until they make some changes.
