Hey guys, just noticed that Duncan messed out his ankle and according to Popps, he's gonna be out for a while. How do you think this afects our playoff run? http://www.nba.com/games/20110321/GSWSAS/gameinfo.html?ls=iref:nbahpt2
If Memphis, or any of the teams chasing the playoff spot plays Spurs in their next couple of games, then they might catch a break.
If TD isn't at full strength to start the playoffs, the 8th seed will have a much better shot at winning in the first round than the 5th/6th/7th seeds.
this is terrible. I was hoping for spurs to beat memphis any everybody else in the west and sit their starters against us. Memphis is playing S.A this week.
Even if it would somehow affect us (which it doesn't), don't believe the hype Spurs always lie about the seriousness of their injuries Tony Parker screwed up his ankle and was supposed to miss a month but magically he came back 3 days later. Wouldn't be suprised if Duncan magically plays against the Rockets next week.
true but the Spurs are always big on resting Duncan for the playoffs even if he sat there is almost no chance they lose the top record
agreed. Pop is a coach who is big on keeping players healthy no matter what. remember when he sat there big 3 vs denver when they arrived late on a back to back look for duncan to miss a good amount of games unless the spurs start losing badly (unlikely)
I think the Spurs will still play Memphis hard even without Timmy. They probably want to avenge that last blowout loss from a couple weeks ago, plus I think they really want Memphis out of the playoff picture. The media is making a big deal out of Memphis being that 8th seed team that no one wants to face. They have front court size, two very good wing defenders in Tony Allen and Shane Battier, plus they've just been really hot. Not saying the Spurs are scared of them, they'd just rather not have to wear themselves out in the first round. This is what I'm hoping for at least lol. It's going to help us out big time if the Grizzlies to go 0-3 on this mini murderer's row stretch of BOS, CHI, and SA.
I have Duncan on mine also, and I benched him even before this. Basically he would have been getting zero playing time in the end of the season anyways. I didn't see the injury myself so I'm not sure I even believe it happened. Maybe they're just resting him.
Duncan has not been that important to the Spurs this season. They are gong to be fine without him as long as he returns by the playoffs. Again, this Spurs team is not built for the playoffs.
