This enough oh wait maybe some Nike commercials would be better..... CHRISTIANSTED, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan came to the U.S. Virgin Islands over the weekend to hold basketball clinics and promote his foundation on his home island of St. Croix. Duncan, 27, the National Basketball Association's MVP the last two seasons, spent part of Saturday at St. Croix's Central High School teaching children basketball fundamentals. "It's great to come out here and do what I can," he said. "It's good to interact with them and show them some stuff." The 7-foot forward and several college basketball players ran the kids through a series of drills during the two-hour session, including lay-ups, jump shots, free-throw shooting and dribbling exercises. Kemia Frederick, 9, was wearing a No. 21 Duncan jersey as he stood in line for an autograph. "I think he is a real good basketball player," Frederick said. "I came to learn how to shoot and how to pass." On Sunday, Duncan appeared in a local celebrity volleyball tournament. Duncan was also on island to promote The Tim Duncan Foundation, which is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, but also gives away about $200,000 annually in grants to various community organizations in St. Croix and San Antonio, Texas. In St. Croix, the foundation has helped orphanages, foster homes and a housing complex for physically and/or mentally disabled adults, his wife Amy Duncan said. Duncan has become one of the biggest celebrities in the U.S. Virgin Islands, a territory of about 108,000 people. He played basketball for St. Dunstan's Episcopal High School in St. Croix before going on to star at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. Duncan, who has played six seasons in the NBA, averaged 24.7 points, 15.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots in the 2003 playoffs, which culminated with the Spurs beating the New Jersey Nets in six games in the NBA Finals. For his career, Duncan has averaged 22.9 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks
I think I've come around guys, thanks again for your thoughts. What I said earlier especially holds true in light of yesterday's events regarding Kobe, if they turn out to be true. Did I just quote myself? I ought to get some kind of deduction for that.
To defend hakeem, when he did do commercials or was marketted. Man it was memorable. Anyone remeber the unbeatable advertisements and my personal favorite. The one where he was on the bench passing donuts to the team and that one cop? He was even in movies. How funny
apparently 'today' also means 'i want to buy jerseys of players that get busted for sexual assault and possession of mar1juana' . seriously, players like kobe iverson and mcgrady are more marketable but are they better? no. this is like the lebron james hype. it's sad that best overall game don't sell while hype and flash does.
He is pretty emotional on the court.......oh well. The NBA is fine. People should be worrying about tennis and hockey! They are screwed!
