So now stats alone can tell you that any player is better than another? Since Jordan isn't the all time leader in every statistical category does that mean he isn't the greatest player of all time?but, but the stats prove he isn't..

Why would Jordan have to be the all time leader in every category? There are different leaders in various categories, but Jordan is among the top on many of them. What is your point?

Are you trying to say that you have to see Duncan play to understand how he was better than Olajuwon?

Here, watch ten minutes of Olajuwon's highlights...

I thought this question was interesting. Clearly, in Houston everyone would think Olajuwon is better. I asked some people around the office (I live in Boston), more people said Duncan. Probably because:

    a) Duncan is more recent, people have bad memories
    b) They just won a championship, Duncan's 4th to Hakeem's 2nd

The way I see it is that you could make an argument either way. I would not go out and say TD was outright better than Dream or vise versa but to hear that one was far and above the other is ridiculous.

no you can't. stats don't tell the whole story of a player but in this case we're comparing two hall of famers and two of the greatest players to ever play the game. hakeem thoroughly smokes him in every single category. offensively and by a HUGE margin, defensively, he's flat out better. what are you blinded by here?

duncan has two extra rings simply by a combination of better luck/timing/teammates. you stick him in the mid-90's jordan era and you're out of your mind if you think he has 4 rings. even if they got out of the west the 94 knicks would have man-handled them or a young 95 shaq would have destroyed umberto while timmy guarded horace grant.

duncan is the greatest pf of all time, live with that. don't step on hakeem's toes. he is easily better player and that's a fact jack.

how do stats prove Jordan isn't? Jordan's not a big man so obviously he wouldn't get as many rebounds and blocks. but if you consider all stats combined, i'm pretty sure any objective analysis would conclude he's the one. the only player that'll even touch him is Wilt. but then again Wilt is considered by many as the GOAT. Try again!

Dream played against a much tougher field of centers and power forwards than Duncan.

Don't be ridiculous. I think Ewing can beat Clutch at least 6 out of 10 times they play.

Naw, not just stats. I'm completely lost on how anyone xould watch game footage of both players and conclude that Duncan was better.

Duncan's only advantage is that he has won more. That is a clear advantage. Do you honestly doubt Hakeem doesn't win with any of those squads? There is no facet of Duncan's game that Hakeem can't emulate.
