To those who say he is dumb and immature: he is only 22! If he gets his stuff together he can be a pretty good player.

That was the "if" condition in why we passed on him if I remember correctly. It's not like we didn't want the guy. He was Easy Eddie, slightly less hype part 2.

yeah, because there are so many scholars in the NBA. Shaq barely passed his calculus prerequisite but at least he passed it...

It definitely sucks to have let this guy walk considering our almost complete lack of athleticism.

Green is roughly a Rudy Gay (6'8, questionable work ethic, great athleticism, questionable bball IQ, slasher and shooter) and he just fell into our lap. I understand we had bigger needs at the time and that he has been dropped by teams time and again but he was always a great talent.

If we kept him, it was almost like keeping Rudy Gay AND getting Battier.

    Oh well...

Isn't Dallas his 4th team and he is only 22?

He seems like he found a place in Dallas. Good for him. That does not change the fact that 3 teams passed on him despite all of that athleticism and talent. Let's not pretend he has never been given a chance at his other stops.

We don't have Jason Kidd. So, maybe if Green was here, he would be a waste.

i think it's great for the kid if he finally got it together but if you're blaming the rockets for dropping the ball on him, you're an idiot. he looked complete lost as a basketball player every year until this point. he obviously had athleticism but the question was always whether he was smart enough to grasp playsand no one was taking bets that he would make it. he was here at the wrong time.

Thank GOD we kept Von Wafer instead.

Morey can correct his mistake though, but letting him get seasoning this year in Dallas, and then signing him this offseason, though it is looking like he is going to get a lot of money if he keeps playing this well for Dallas.

I think all Dallas can offer him though is the full MLE...so we have a shot.

That is not true. Green was once considered an untouchable by the Celtics, and he had one very productive year in Boston before being shipped out with Al Jefferson for KG. For whatever reason, he lost playing time while he was in Minnesota. I was too upset when I heard we waived him for the likes of Bobby Jones. It really never made sense to me, especially now since we signed Wafer.

That is why you are not running the team.

Don't you think the staffs know him better than you do?

Are you saying they never make mistakes? I believe in Morey and the organization but that doesn't mean I think they are perfect.

Letting Gerald Green go was a mistake, IMO....so in this case, no, I don't believe the staff knows better than me.

lets just wait until Dallas actually wins a game with him playing good. they are 0-4 with him scoring in double figures and remember he averaged double figures on a very crappy Boston team

Couldn't agree more. I'm pretty sure Green didn't help his cause with Morey. Judging from the advice he got from Ryan Gomes that Dallas may be his last chance at staying in the NBA, Green probably didn't do his part in his stop here. If I remember correctly, an insider said as much. He definitely is not an MLE type player. Only a stupid franchise would give out that kind of money to someone who has had priority issues on a contract year.

DD, how long and how many post have I talked about the same thing. I think when u give a good coach a great athelete, he can make it happen. I never understood dropping green for harris last yr or signing jones. Looking at the horses jackson has really pisses me off. When u can say kobe isn't ur best athelete, that's saying a lot.

Oh come on, the guy plays 17mpg, if Dallas wants to win they should play him more minutes.....because he is the only one that attacks the rim for them.

I'll go with that, in an undisciplined team setting where you have the greenlight all the time because they need scoring from anyone, you're bound to score alot if your athletic.

If Green was on the Lakers, he'd be on the inactive list.

he averaged 22 min in Boston and the one game this year where he played only two minutes is bringing his average min down. so he would really be averaging over 20 min a game. I do realize he could be on the right track for reaching his potential but I'm just saying Dallas isn't playing good right now. Before we say he is a huge loss lets just wait to see if can be on a winning team while scoring in double figures.

Yeah, so we should trade tmac too because he does not fit in our system. All he does is 2 step and jacks a 20 foot brick into the air. What a waste of a talent.

This is basketball, not rocket science. You don't need a PH.d to to put a ball in a hole.

I love how people think GM's look at someone like Gerald Green and say, Hey this kid is so talented, he can jump, shoot, and run. He's SOOO good, let's just let him go...

I'm pretty sure there are like 40 weatherspoons for every rashard lewis'.
