For those of you who missed the last month or so of ROX, I'll try to summarize the happenings. - Rox want to move up in draft. Think that there are 5~6 consensus players worth moving up for. Thought they had draft day deals with Kings/Raptors. Then Charlotte picks MKG which leads to Sac picking Robinson and all goes to naught. Thought about trading Lowry to Raps for 8. Unclear who said no. - Rox pickup Lamb with the 12th pick which they got by trading with Bucks for Dalembert (Livingston, Lueur, Brockman coming to us). Many think that the move up may have been "wasted" since Bucks and Suns may have picked others. Royce White and Terrence Jones join the PF only club. Sticking with "best player available" until the end. - Rox offer Asik back loaded contract for the tune of ~5/5/15 ish and dare Bulls to match. Bulls have until 14th of July to do so and will have to decide whether they want to match now and deal with it later or trade Noah/Boozer instead of losing Asik for nothing. - Rox renounce rights to Lee in order to offer the contract above. Can still bring him back but makes Lee unrestricted free agent. Can still do sign and trade to recover value. - Dragic signs 4yr/30~34 million dollar offer with Suns. Unclear what Rox offered. Rox meet with Eric Gordon but he also signs max offer from Suns. N.O. is expected to match. - Rox now chasing Lin with contract similar to what they wanted to get Dragic for, but Knicks are likely to match given they can and said they will and even brought in Kidd as future mentor. - Trades Lowry to Raptors (because Tor lost out on their plan A in Nash) for conditional 1st round pick similar to the TMac to knicks but with less protection (top 3, then 2) and longer expiration date (5 yrs?) + Forbes. - Reported interest in Brooks and Mayo supposedly. - Have not resigned Camby. Actively shopping Scola and Martin. - Still trying to chase Dwight. to be continued...
You can throw in how the poison pill contract is only back-loaded for the other team. For the Rockets, the cap hit averages out over the duration of the contract. Apparently people don't know this.
