http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-nuggets-anthony&prov=ap&type=lgns Carmelo Anthony didn't want to get subbed out because he was feeling like he was getting hot. So coach Karl suspends him. Pretty dumb considering how tight the western conference is. They lost to the Pistons in the game Carmelo was suspended. I would understand if he refused to come into the game, but come out? Please! That's all heart (no defense, but heart) right there...
Well I agree its a great move for all the other teams But karl was trying to teach discipline. You're supposed to listen to your Coach, just like you're supposed to listen to your boss, and if you don't you pay the price, Melo has to be held accountable just like any other player, he cannot get preferential treatment.
This is old news. Karl had to suspend him. If an NBA coach lets something like that go, he will lose the respect of the players in a hurry. Melo has a melon for a brain.
If your top player isn't going to listen to the coach, who else on that team will? How many more games will they lose if the players don't listen to the coach? You sacrifice one game for the bigger picture.
First it's not wanting to come out then not showing up on time for practice then not flying with the team then missing a flight to watch the superbowl.....
I think we all know Carmelo was in the wrong for insubordination. But to suspend him 1 game is too much especially since that 1 game could be the difference between home court advantage and missing the playoffs altogether. This is like your boss telling you to stop working but you want to finish the job and him taking your pay for the day. I guess in America, most of us would rather stop working. Zing!
bad metaphor. let's change to another one: this is like in a battle your commander said " get out of there we need to put a sniper on your position" and you said " to hell I will I am a better sharpshooter". guess what would happen?
