As long as the offence stays structured, and the guards shoot good shots, then there is no problem with the play. If Cat is making more shots than anybody, it better be because he is HOT, and is making them, and so far, he is.
    Same with Steve.
    Same with Yao.
When any one of them have an off night, as Yao did last game, the others will pick up the slack. Guard bashing so far this season, really has no merrit as they are playing a much better team game.

Oh, and Yao had a high FG% early last season because he wasn't getting defensive attention. See the first Mavs game last season. After that game, he got a lot more attention. ;)

YOU FREAKEN *DIOT! The rockets have been playoff bound these past 5 years right?

Just because we're off to a good start (4-1) doesnt mean that we have to put Francis & Mobley on a PEDestal. They both deserved the criticism they've gotten. Its Still to early in the season to start giving out awards. Although they've been pretty impressive.

You mean lottery bound ? Last year is really the only time they should have been in the playoffs. And i would not blame or guards...certainly not alone...

Should have been in three years ago imo. They won like 45 games I think. Last I heard it was the most ever by a team not making the playoffs.

Actually it would make him the smart one, cause he posed that question as a sarcastic remark that didn't need an answer because everyone's knows they haven't made the playoffs with the guards running the show. Yet you thought he posed it as a real question and replied, you mean lottery bound right?

I'll give Steve and Cat credit. They have been exceptional. If Steve can avoid head-up-his-butt halves like the first half against Joisey (where he doesn't need to be stupendous in the stretch, because it won't always happen) then even better.

Yao did play like a stiff last night. Every team is gonna go small against him until he overcomes that matchup. Swift and Hunter, especially the latter, are not exactly All-Stars, and both couldn't miss when they played us.

But I have faith in Yao, too. He just needs to make his move. I'm wondering if I'm seeing too much of Ewing in that dribble, dribble, dribble, backing down, backing down thing that he does. Is it a move he'll pick up sooner or later? Or does it bog down the offense?

Players get bashed for a reason!

    Francis too many shots? No.
    Mobley too many shots? No.
Yao getting the ball enough. Yes.

Do you see how that works?

Players do good, they get complemented.
Players do bad, they get bashed.

    You need to learn this.

Players are named Steve or cuttino, they get an inordinate amount of criticism, in preseason, and have "fans" of their own team purporting to argue that Derek Fisher and JR Bremer are superior point guards.

Players are named Yao or Ming, and people start threads b****ing about how he doesn't get the ball enough and crapping on the guards after a 30 point blowout victory.

Do you see how this works?

Players that are named Steve or Cuttino get an "inordinate amount" of criticism (in the past; as far I am concerned) for a reason.

They are part of core group of players that should lead by example.
If the leaders of a particlular team play poorly they get bashed!
They also will received more criticism (inordinate amount or not) than
the 12 man. For example, who cares if Mike Wilks plays bad? If he doesn't he gets traded or released. It's much harder to get change from your "Franchise" players.

If people that start theads about "Not getting the ball to Yao after a 30 point blowout). Ignore those post!

As far as, Derek Fisher and JR Bremer. Fisher plays his role as PG just fine. JR Bremer's career is just starting and will be an excellent PG.

And Francis career as a SHOOTING GUARD (his role) is just starting too. Thanks to JVG.

Sam, Ignore those newbie goof balls! They are probably 15 year old kids (or Yao only fans!).

I'm one of Francis's biggest critics! But he is DOING JUST PERFECT NOW with in the system. He's playing a great leading role. He's not over-playing.

Mobley has always played his role right (shooting guard). But I just don't like him on the court with Francis. Plus, JVG system (and Yao) have helped his game (passes, cutting and open threes).

There's a difference of what I say, than from what these "newbie" post that are critical of Francis now. He's doing fine, because the system is taking care of him. He's not talking the whole load on his shoulders (part system, part teammates).

    Geez, that's a bit harsh, isn't it?

Let's see, Derek Fisher plays basketball. Steve Francis also plays basketball. JR Bremer is black. Steve Francis also is black. Wait, did I just compare Derek Fisher and JR Bremer to Steve Francis.

Jesus Christ!!! I don't deserve to live!!! I did just before I made the comparison, but not anymore.

Derek Fisher is a TRUE point guard, a pass-first rather than shoot-first guy. He's a much better and smarter defender than Stevie. In fact, the other night, Doug Collins even said Fisher is the best in the league in getting called for offensive foul on the other player. I don't know much about Bremer, someone who is still kinda new in the nba.
