a duke professor was saying before evidence came out it wouldnt link them .. because they could have wore condoms
The quote from the press conference was "on or about" the woman. There is more to DNA than semen, i.e. skin under fingernails, hair et al... Nuttin' honey...
Well, the investigation is still open. Something happened at that house. People seem to forget about the 911 call from 2 black students who were walking by the house who said guys from the team just started calling them "******s" for no reason. So I find it strange how some people are acting like this is a team of fine upstanding young men. These guys are still not "cleared" and it's far too soon to just say case closed, they did nuttin'. As for the lack of DNA from scratches, if multiple people attacked her at the same time, then it's very possible she could not have gotten any scratches in since one athlete holding each arm down is hard to overcome.
I'm not sure what happened here, but I can tell you with certainty that strippers are some of the most untrustworthy people on this planet.
While I suppose it is possible, I can't imagine a bunch of college boys raping a girl and managing to not get their DNA on her ANYWHERE.
I've remained friendly with my old advisor from college. He is a psychology professor and a sports nut. One of his focuses is the psychology of sports. He told me 15 years ago that lacrosse players were the worst kind of student/person from his limited observation-- worse than football, basketball, and baseball players. He thought they were more arrogant, spoiled and kind of irresponsible.
Actually I've never seen it either... ... only the obligatory clips that made it as some sort of highlight or promotion for the film. ... and lacrosse is changing. My son plays at a DIII school in the Baltimore area. The sport used to be the province of the preppie but, at least here in the south, it has taken root in all of the larger public schools. My friend's remarks were made some 15 years ago.
I might add that drinking and having strippers at a party are not condoned Duke Best Practices for university parties. A series of bad decision has lead these Duke students into being into the predicament of needing to defend themselves (and Duke indirectly) to the police. I would not be surprised if Duke investigated this matter themselves looking for underage drinking as the excuse to suspend the whole lot of them.
Even if they had used condoms docs can still detect latex residue. Apparently there was none. If she fought back hard enough to break multiple fake fingernails off, there should have been some dna evidence under the remaining nails, I'd think. The stripper's a lying b****, apparently, and at least some of the lacrosse guys are racist aholes as well. Crazy & sad story all around.
I was gonna say this.... Strippers at a college Frat type party are not all that uncommon...... If the girl lied, she should go to jail. It looks like their team was innocent and now they had their season canceled, their coach resign and lots of incriminating talk from all over the country. All for a little booze up with strippers......WOW ! DD
Where did you go to school? What you wrote above applies to every university. I attended a Catholic University and drinking and strippers were common. I don't see anything wrong with them trying to have a good time. it's all part of college life. I'm surprised the strippers didn't bring along their bouncer/pimp to make sure nothing happens.
I went to a lot of college parties and never had a stripper there. the stripper culture has exploded in this country. when I was in h.s. 15 yrs ago only guys who you thought of going to strip clubs were horny older men or scrubs. it was still a little taboo. now I get in my car and have to hear stupid songs like "i'm in love with a stripper". did anyone hear about that contreversy when they accidently played the unedited version on 97.9? anyway, the strip club culture is out of control.
You should have seen it when the lacrosse and rugby players got together for a party at Sam Houston State. Although there was never any strippers, maybe some flashing, but never real strippers. College seems to have taken partying to the next level.
