When I got my Dell a few years ago, they totally forgot to put any software on it. The memory was completely empty. The first 3 people I talked to were completely clueless. They all put me on hold and then the line was magically "disconnected". I think when they found out what my problem was, they realized that it was going to be a long call and just hung up. The 4th guy I talked to (it was 3am our time) was VERY nice. He helped me out and even called me back when I had to hang up to test the modem. I ended up asking for his supervisors email address and I sent him a very nice letter telling him about my experiences. I hope that guy get a raise....and the other 3 guys get sacked.
Is that, like, bad or something? I mean, guitars are made of wood and wood comes from trees and trees are outside 100% of the time except for bonsai trees and Christmas trees and trees that can afford to buy their own homes.
Yes, but the reason this doesn't work is because once a tree has been cut, it becomes dead. Dead wood has to be cared for, or it will warp, or deteriorate. In the guitar situation, the wood has been varnished, which is susceptible to water damage. If the guitar had been caught in the rain, it could have been destroyed.
I'm going to give you 3 points for the possibility that this was a "deadpan-serious-response-as-joke" response.
I paid for a new laptop from them about 2 years ago.. Paid for the laptop with 2 bank cards.. the LCD had 3 pixels go out in the first 2 months and this was the second laptop after the first one the sent me had a cracked LCD right out of the box... Dell told me they couldnt give a refund or fix the LCD cause it was within spec for LCD use... I was pissed talked to many people the best they could do was prorate the laptop and give that much money back for the laptop being used........ I paid about 1800.00 and they were going to give me 1200.00 I was pissed and I knew I didnt want them to have any of my money, so I said OK....BUT this is the huge BUT.. one of my bank accounts was now closed and I need the money to be put back onto the other card I gave them.... They said NO PROBLEM I took the guys name down and all that crap Well after 2 weeks and no funds I call Dell and they say they paid the account and the matter was now closed... I asked what account and they ended up telling me it was the one I told them not to... So I called my bank and they tell me that account was closed and people cant credit a account that has been closed.. Call back dell and they say that the money was sent and they couldnt do anything about it.. Well after 2 years I still have nothing to show for it, MONEY OR LAPTOP... I have talked to lawyers, but nothing has come of it... the moral of the story is DONT pay with 2 bank card AND NEVER BUY DELL!!!
Dell has slowly gone the way of Best Buy.... Luring the unsuspecting in to pay above-average prices for sub par merchandises on the strength of past reputation for high quality and rock bottom prices. Wal-Mart is no different, but at least they are still cheap and don't pretend to sell quality stuff (remember the "Made in USA" campaign directed squarely at K-Mart over a decade ago? Man, Sam Walton must be spinning in his grave...).
Dude, that sucks that yall are having such problems with Dell. Although, I must admit, my computer is 5 years old now, my Dell hasn't had any problems, with the exception of errors in windows and viruses that exploit those errors. When my computer WAS under warranty, I got everything fixed/replaced, without hassle, and quickly. I can't say that I have any beef with Dell. Although all this talk of being screwed by them lately makes me think twice about buying anything from them anytime soon.
UPDATE Well after I spoke with my first Dell rep, I found out he didnt do anything but tell me the system was down and that he would call me back with the order #. He didnt! After that through the second Dell rep, he told me that the first guy didnt even bother to note the ticket of my problem. He then turned around and noted the ticket and gave me a fake order #! How did I find out? I checked my email to check the status of my second pc and it didnt recognize the number! So I call back and the 3rd Dell rep gave me an order # and a direct supervisors phone #. So now I'm supposed to wait 5-7 days starting from today for my new computer. By the way I did recieve my free printer that came with the pc Carry on.
Heck, with all the things they just leave on porches.. I'm surprised no criminal has made a living out of just following around UPS trucks
IMO Dell doesn't come close to HP in design and quality and their customer satisfaction rating is rapidly decling. Take your chance, but I would go to HP. I use HP at work and home and these are the best machines on the planet.
Hmmm...come to think of it, I haven;t been charged yet either. I did see a charge on my bank account a few days before the order was shipped, but now, the charge is not on my bank account anymore. Maybe they are waiting for the printer to ship before completing the transction?
Dell has always been cheap computers for cheap prices. Nobody cared because they used to have good service and support. Now they no longer have good service and support and people are starting to notice.
