You need to take yourself back to the D&D I don't think you are up for this.

Please tell us again how this does not matter because it's just women's swimming.

Do you really want to continue this?

    Bro.

    He is disgusting.

He doesn't care about women's athletics or trans issues..... his first go to was feminism and against anyone that doesn't fit in his cute little box of what is and isn't right. At least he didn't complain about women menstrual cycles or blacks being seated at the local diner.

My wife completed medical school and was going to work for the CDC before she had stomach cancer..... so I can completely relate to having a smarter wife. I have learned to never under-estimate her.

I posted this elsewhere but I *honestly* understand the TERF stance as well.
    Take you ethnicity/culture/group dynamic
Some Random person . . .say .. . ME! I dye my skin or use chemicals to lighten it. I perm my hair to fit the type.
I start to mimmick the culture. I start to tell everyone I am a part of that group
I was born black but I am a Polish person in a black body. (just as an example)

Would anyone accept that? Would anyone be ok with me saying . . .I'm more or as Polish as the polish person
thought I never been to Poland and have no Polish relatives?
All my knowledge of Poland comes from the Polish people I met and TV
BUT . .. I LEGIT FEEL I AM A WHITE POLISH PERSON IN A BLACK BODY

People would think it was absurd!

I have no horse in the fight but honestly the whole thing confuses me.
I can see alot of the angles presented

What makes someone "Polish" or to some extent "white" is the experiences they have stored in their brain. I don't know the science behind how someone is transgender but I'm assuming there is a biological issue at role here fir transgender people. So when they "feel" like a woman they sincerely do.

I was hearing a discussion about this from a former Olympic level women’s swimmer and Lia Thomas actually only did well in one race and otherwise didn’t place in any other races at the NCAA meet. Her best finish in two other races was tied for 5th and 8th. Her time even in the race she won was still well below Olympic and World Record.

I checked up on it and that does appear to be the case. On my phone so can’t post the text but the article isn’t behind a pay wall.

From that any biological advantage she has might not be that pronounced and her performance in the race she won might very much be an outlier.

None of that matters to people. Whenever a transgender athlete wins, this debate will come up.

I need to find me a wig and wreck some local YMCA women competition.

Possibly my only chance in life at a power trip.

Yes that probably will be the case as we tend to make the exception the rule in these type of debates.

As I said though in the thread that I started. Before we can call this "The end of Women's Sports" we need to get a handle on how big the problem is. How many men might want to transition just to win in women's sports and even if they do how likely are they going to dominate.

I do believe there are some biological advantages that can't be erased by transitioning. Based on that Lia Thomas actually didn't blow away the competition and dominate the NCAA's and my own experience coaching a trans athlete who also didn't dominate her division I'm leaning towards this isn't likely to be a big problem. There are going to be very few men willing to become women just to win women's divisions and those that do aren't guaranteed domination.

There is also this false narrative that she couldn't compete as a male swimmer. Before she transitioned she was considered an elite level swimmer - people forget she has been on HRT for 3 years so that has been negatively impacting her times even on her last male meet. She was competitive and it's not uncommon for someone who say has the 11th fastest time at the age she posted it to jump to first in a few years.

Also they neglect to mention that of the 27 records broken in the swimming competition, she had none of them. And her first place finish would have only finished third in some prior years.

She didn't break woman's swimming. She's just a really great swimmer.
