this should NOT be posted. it offends someone. just b/c Republicans is not a race doesn't mean it's ok.
ronald reagan was a terrorist. He sacrificed the lives of the people in Latin america Anyways,it was great to see a man of high character like deke, honored.
its funny how somethign funny just pisses some people off....I don't undersstand how some people go on with life being mad or offended by every little t hing...almost every show/network/person cracks jokes about the presidential office and its damn funny.....stop reading into things and making yoruself look like Abe Lincoln or whatever.....this was damn funny and im proud tha we are able to post things like this and laugh about it....espcailly about this presidency...there is alot to laugh about but thats for another time and converstaion...
I believe in freedom of speech. In fact plenty of Americans have died so we can have it.Remember that. That said, the digusting lack of patriotism and outright seditious crap in this thread is sickening. I realize many liberals dwell here(along with some pretty immature people) but do you have to spread this spoor all over the board?IT IS OFFENSIVE! Just because you have the "right" to do something doesn't make it RIGHT. Keep it in D&D. BTW.....I was really proud to see Deke up there with the others. It's a wonderful reminder of what our country's really about.
Ditto. I mean, it's understandable that a President of a country would admit to having sex with such an incredible man, but that was very disrespectful of Bush to say so in public. What about Deke's family? I'm sure they were listening. Hopefully his kids are too young to understand Bush's inuendos.
isn't this all the more reason that freedom of speech should be respected? I personally find respect for freedom of speech more important than respect for the presidential office. The people who died for this country did so for the rights of the people, not the rights of the presidential office. I personally didn't find this video to be as hilarious as some others here. But I do find it hypocritical to wrap oneself in the flag and then turn around and accuse others of being liberal unpatriotic people simply for excercising their right to free speech that others have died to protect. It has reached a point where this presidency has divided the country - ironic due to the "uniter not a divider" rhetoric that was displayed early during Bush's reign. Even worse is how the Republican party has promoted the thought that if you are against the war or speak negatively about the president you are unpatriotic and unamerican. History tells us that this is somewhat uniquely American. I'm neither Republican nor Democrat. The politics on both sides pretty much make my stomach crawl and certainly do not reflect the founding father's vision of a free country. I recently did some research on Texas history and was astonished to see that Stephen F. Austin was a big proponent of free speech and freedom of religion - as well as seperation of church and state. My point is, really all that is important is that Exxon recently topped their previous record breaking profits. We are committing more troops to Iraq in complete disregard for the will of our government as well as the will of the people. The benefits of the few have increasingly been held in higher regard than the benefit of the many. The people have an increasingly smaller voice in the actions of the government while increasingly sharing the burden for their results. None of these things are what our country was founded upon and if you want to call me extreme or unpatriotic I would say "look in the mirror, baby"
This would be easier to defend if it were funnier. We probably do poke too much fun at our Government. But its not just limited to liberals....When Clinton was in office lots of Republicans took massive shots at Clinton/Lewinsky in the most salacious manner possible. Then when Bush took office suddenly we have to "respect the office". Not singling out my bud Strangelove here...I don't really remember him cracking on Clinton. Deal is...it is a little offensive. But I would sure rather live in a society where we take too many liberties in mocking elected officials than in a society where we were afraid to say anything negative about them.
Hey,we're not supposed to be robots.I understand that to voice our opinions about just about anything is totally American too.The government shouldn't be allowed to run amok without accountability. The title and a few over the top comments in this thread are what lead me to post. I guess my position on what's happening in the world differs greatly from many here.I've seen us as needing to be proactive, stepping into the vacuum created after the fall of communism and 911.It's my contention that whoever is in office now Dem or Republican...well, the same people are calling the shots behind the scenes. There is a coordinated longterm plan that's been in place for eons....and I'm with that program. On one hand the spice will flow, but more importantly in the long run the world will be a safer place.Let's be honest,Iraq's strategic value is underestimated. We have serious problems with Iran and of course China. There is a MUCH bigger picture here.We stand at the crux of a crucial point in history and are doing what needs to be done. So many seem to have forgotten 911 already...... We are at war... rules change....organizing principles for such become priority 1.....we have a purpose.Don't be shortsighted..Ponder the larger mosaic. "Those who make peaceful revolutions impossible will make violent revolutions inevitable" JFK "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" TJ "The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave" TJ
no-one has forgotten 911. What has been confused is the fact that Iraq had nothing to do with those attacks. The main man behind them is still at large while the administration lies about how much money it is going to cost to clean up the mess it has made in a country that was not a priority in regards to "the war on terror". Meanwhile, even though you have more of a chance of dying by stepping on a rusty nail than a terrorist attack our civil liberties are threatened and our fears are provoked with the end result being a large profit by a small group of people. Iran is a threat. North Korea is a threat. I said they were bigger threats than Iraq when the invasion began. Now not only do we have no credibility in the world in regards to these issues we don't have the infrastructure to carry out any threats we might make to these countries. They now view this as having total freedom to do what they want in regards to nuclear weapons development. As a matter of fact we cannot even finish what we started in Afganistan much less Iraq or deal with crisis in NK or Iran or Syria. Shortsided indeed...
