spurs and rockets are a good matchup regardless, and a good rivalry, although I really don't know to many people from San Antonio to argue with :) But the logic is this, yes asterik for the spurs officialy, just like with Marus, and the more games they had... But most people, and I'm surprised no one hasn't thrown the barb that so hurts me

I like Tim Duncan, but the way the Spurs got the number one pick is an embarassment. It makes me want to hide my head in shame that a team from Texas would pull such an obvious tank job.

there should be an asterick simply because there was a shorter regular season and that needs to be documented. as far as a diminished championship, i don't buy that part. it's just as meaningful.

Without even discussing the merits of an asterisk, I will just say that every Rocket fan I saw before the '99 season didn't say anything about an asterisk when we could've won. After we got Pippen, and we were in contention and talking about winning the title, no one spoke up about the title having less meaning.

None of this asterisk talk started until a rival team won, and people started making excuses for it.

im not going to comment on the spurs *.
but the jordan * allegedly on our titles...
i dont think any of the bulls 6 titles should count. they should all have *'s. i mean after all he never played the celtics with mchale parish and bird. i mean they were all still alive right? they could have suited up. he didnt beat kareem and magic and the lakers right? none of them should count. i mean yeah they were all retired and old, but ..hey thats too damn bad. none of those 6 bulls titles count because he never played those guys.

I believe he actually did beat Magic and the Lakers for his first or second title.

Its not fair to penalize Jordan cause he didnt play any of those guys in the same way you cant penalize Dream for not winning his titles against the Bulls.

you know, i wonder if the Wizards won the title next season that everyone would be calling for an asterisk next to the Lakers three titles.

HOT DAMN, if the rockets dont win it all, i might have a new team to root for!

Thats just blasphemy............."new team to root for!" LOL.
Well anyways, I mean is it really that degrading to have the *asterisk??? They didn't cheat in any way. Everyone had the same opportunity to win that year. Thats pretty much my take on the whole matter. If you want to give them an * its fine, but it doesn't take away the championship.....and they didnt' get a smaller trophy for it. So its all good..........we'll get our Double Championship (or more) again, and I'll be fine with it.

    Spurs fan here...

Actually, I see MUCH more hate (bitterness, jealousy?) on this board for the Spurs than I see on Spursreport for the Rockets. Also, it is generally accepted in SA that The Dream was superior to Robinson.

As for the regular season MVP of '95, the Rockets were 1-5 against the Spurs that year...How could the MVP go to Hakeem?

Besides, Hakeem won the important one that season...and got to bash D. Rob over the head with the other one in the process.

Dont flatter yourself buddy. Why exactly would we be jealous of you guys? I believe the last three years you guys have just as many trophies as us. 0

Just grasping at staws, I guess. I mean, go back & read this thread. Vitreol, hate, loathing...for a team the rest of the NBA considers "nice" & "good guys". Somebody hates Vinny Del Negro?! WTF??!!! He was slow, white, as far as I can remember never hit a meaningfull shot against the Rockets.

Granted their are plenty of ignorant Spurs fans, but their most active board has generally some intelligent, realistic, contributors. Where does this attitude come from? Have their been some particularly ignorant fans on this board?

"Nice and good guys" are just different terms for big fat ass p*****s. And I HATE p*****s!

    Does that help?

Oh and the biggest Spurs fan in the world is on this board. His constant Spurs worshipping as driven me to madness I tell ya!

If you are passionate about your team, you will always hate their closest rival. Its natural.

SA v. Houston hate goes alot deeper. Its more than Rockets vs. Spurs, its Hakeem vs. Robinson, Mad Max v. the whole Spur team, John Lucas vs. his former team, Avery Johnson vs. the team that never gave him a shot, etc.. We hate Vinny Del Negro as a player because he always killed us on open jumbers yet I dont think we hate him as a person. SA hates Hakeem because he made their puss center look like a fool in a nationally televised playoff game.

Something interesting here though .......when Mario Elie went to play for the Spurs, was I the only one that had to hold myself back from feeling like he was a traitor????????????????

Hey our team has nice/good guys. Careful.
