because he gives guns to people and feeds them. "kill those guys and i'll keep feeding you." he's power-hungry, and i'm guessing somewhere inside there he is a "true believer."
I do somehwat agree that poverty can be an enabler, the problem is that it isn't poverty within the United States that's the problem (though I think the radical movement has been gaining in poor African American neighborhoods originating in prison cells), it's wolrdwide poverty and though the U.S. may be the superpower, what can we do? I suppose we could take that $300 billion or whatever we spent on Iraq and distribute it to the Mideast poor people but how much of that money would actually get to the people, and how much of it would go towards financing some sheiks new harem? There is NOTHING the U.S. can do for the poor Muslims of the world as long as their governments are so corrupt and incompetent that their entire economy would go into a deep depression if I suddenly start paying less than $2.00 for my gas.
We can do a lot more. Honestly. If we put as much effort and thought into that as we do other things, we'd be making a much larger dent.
Well, we should put these $500B to expand Peace Corp. Send them to ME and "invade" them with schools, food and medical aid. I am sure $500B later, we will have way fewer enemies.
Perhaps "idiot" is too strong a term maybe "highly flawed thinker". I don't think he is an idiot because I disagree with him. He's not alone in making this argument but for a guy who is supposedly extremely well educated thinker he makes a lot of boneheaded arguments. IMHO there are people who I disagree with here on Clutchfans D & D who I think are smarter and make better arguments than D'Souza. Again it surprises me that he is considered a luminary of conservative thought.
I think he is a smart ass like Ann Coulter who knows how to stir the pot such that he/she can pocket lots of $$$.
^ That's possibly true. If so I will give him more credit. Honestly when I hear some of the idiocy that he says I'm not sure if he's serious or being sarcastic to make a point.
