It's a pragmatic take. What action could the manager have done to quickly end the situation? Give him the food. The manager acted out of principle and stood his ground which is admirable I guess but also slightly more dangerous. Let me put it this way. Did the kid deserve being served? Hell no. Would the kid being served quickly deescalate the situation and involve the least amount of time? Yes. I think the most pragmatic approach in this situation would have been to serve the kid and while he is eating his mac and cheese, call campus police and let them deal with him.
You cannot be certain of this. What if the kid wanted a free drink next? What if he wanted to sit where someone else was sitting and demanded they move for him?
It didn't look like it but I guess it's possible that the drunk kid was a toddler. Can someone verify?
Campus police would take less than 5 minutes to arrive at the dinning hall. Serve him his mac and cheese, keep an eye on him and just stand pat for less than 5 minutes and he is off your hands. Also it's a dining hall. All drinks are free or at least pre-purchased with a dining plan which I assume he has. Campus dining is a buffet.
This kid lost any respect the moment he put his hands on the guy...especially after belittling his occupation. He was lucky that the manager had more to lose and kept his composure the entire time. The $hitstain wasnt going to learn anything, and he wasnt going to "deescalate" once he got what he wanted... A night in jail, and then having his parents bail him out is going to have a more meaningful impact. He shouldve left when he had the chance.
I dont want to be THAT guy, but when someone of race does something like this, society says its not But I agree this was hilarious
Very true, if the kid was a minority then it would be a civil rights violation and we'd have to march on Washington.....but he's a white kid so we can feel free to laugh about his stupidity causing misfortune.
Like I said before, the kid absolutely deserved being decked in the face as soon as he shoved the manager and deserved to be kicked out of the place as soon as he attempted to enter a college dining hall with an alcoholic beverage. That isn't the point. My point is trying to find the most pragmatic end to the confrontation. That's all. Serve the kid. Watch him from a distance and wait for the campus pd to send him to jail. I know this analogy is a stretch but what is protocol for a bank taller when they are robbed? Give them the money, and let the cops deal with it. Serve him, and let the cops deal with him.
If the kid pulled a gun and demanded mac & cheese, then yeah... give him what he wants. Until that happens, he's just a 5'7" POS midget. Not sure why some want the rest of the world to accommodate him because he's drunk. The manager was a saint. There was no de-escalation with that turd. The kid is just a huge *******.
Also, you aren't doing him any favors by letting him get away with being an *******, it'll just encourage him to do it even more. Hopefully the dumb kid learns his lesson this way and won't do it again.
Mommy and daddy have probably taken care of it already and son here got a stern talk and promised not to do it again. It's a culture of entitlement and I'm sure his parents played a part in it
Well yeah, that's a given, but there's still hope that the embarrassment will factor in and cause him to change his behavior in public.
