i know you dont like those drummers but in my opinion that is something that really is missing from the nba atmosphere -- i mean have you ever been to a houston rockets game they have the absolute most boring fans i have ever seen -- they are louder at comets games!! -- i really like the whole drummers idea it brings somewhat of a college type atmosphere to the nba which it desperately needs --

no not black norweigen metal. norweigan black metal. im sure that there are black dudes in norway but i dont think many would be into heavy metal. i meant the satan-worshipping ambient metal that our nordic friends seem to enjoy so.

the sounds of agonizing torture at the hands of our dark lork and master SATAN! the thrashing riffage of the drop d tuned guitars, the jackhammer pounding of the double bass, the blood-curdling ambiance and wailing of lost souls from the keyboards.

im talking about the music made by evil m.f.ers who burn down hundreds of years old churches and murder each others lead singers just to prove who was more evil. they make slayer look like 98 degrees.

this, my fiends is the kind of music that the rockets need at their home games...it would at least go with the new blood-dripping logo.

They were cool. But when they were close to you, it was a bit loud. Actually Rockets games are so quiet, it is cool to have something to get the crowd going. If the drummers are back, then it is a good thing, IMO. Also, how can anyone call out one member of the drum group? It is like saying, "That 3rd horn player in Earth, Wind, and Fire really ticks me off!"

Team NRG is back? Those are the male dancers. I thought they were gone for good.

Heh. Haven't had one of these newbie vs. vets threads in a little while. Fun to watch all the dust start flying.

The drummers will be back next season, but we've spent a lot of time re-tooling them. Contrary to the majority of posters in this thread, they actually had a lot of fans out there, and Comets season gave them a chance to experiment with some improvements.

They'll most likely have some role in the opening, but most of their activity will be on the upper bowl, which is where they got great response last year.

They've switched out the types of drums they're using. No more snares or high pitched drums. Everything is much deeper now. You should feel it in your gut, not your head. That also keeps the sound from being too harsh if you're close by where they're active.

They've greatly reduced the amount of clowning/Blue Man/miming stuff, and they've gotten much better at inciting fan reaction -- call and response stuff, etc. They've also worked at how to fit themselves into the flow of the game more. They worked hard, and the results were pretty easy to see from my standpoint.

They'll also be throwing more stuff out into the crowd -- the new upper bowl is much higher up, and will be harder to hit with t-shirts, etc., from the floor. Somebody's got to take care of the folks in the upper bowl, and these guys are the right fit.

Now, please resume thrashing each other for either rude or repressive, depending on your point of view.

    Tim

Darn, I didn't really care for them at all. I liked the old intro. I don't see the point in fixing something that's not broken. (old-school uniforms)

But if you did decide to change the intro my vote would be for James Brown - Get Up Off That Thing, unless it is taken.

Sounds great, Tim. I guess it's all about trial and error. The "deep" drums sound a little better, less abrasive. I always liked the intro (minus the ill fated "Hou-ston-boom-boom-Rock-ets-boom-boom" chant) so I hope it doesn't change that much.

I actually met those guys at a mutual gig last year and I saw the van they travel around in and I gotta tell you....they need better wheels. You should really hook them up. :D

BTW, jo mama that was the funniest post I've read in a long time! Hilarious!

I dont mind the drumming guys, though I wouldnt call myself a fan either.

I like the techno opening to the games we used to have, when the lights/lasers move to the beat through out the arena.

Though, either way I am there to see the ROCKETS. I like the idea of them being up in the upperbowel so now the people (me) up there can finally start to get some t-shirts.

    EXACTLY!!!!

You don't even have to be a fan of techno. But if done right, the music and atmosphere improves the pre-show.

A Train, touche.... that one actually made me laugh. Nothing like quoting the Stiffler.

Drummer. just a question, what is you obsession with scat? Your response to anyone's response is Ex-lax, dude they have other chat rooms for that type of fetish.

Yes, I also agree don grahamleone was a little over the top on this one... & if this makes anybody feels better, just let you know that he has been called a whiny b**** by the supreme judge a few days ago on the BBS ( & so am I). ;)

Oh, & if it's not enough for you guys (new posters), there is another BBS where he's currently a newbie & if you managed to find it, you'll have every chance to stand head & shoulder with him & continue the argument... ;) :D

Ok, ok Drummer, great political response. I have a new found respect for you and your ability to dodge loaded questions.

Some of your people in here actually have interesting personalliies. Just give some of the, what do you call them, "newbies" a break when posting.

BTW, Houston has tremendous pool of local talented ands and singers. Wy not tap into that pool?
