    How many times are we going to let things like this happen before we get common sense truck laws? Do you think being allowed to drive is more important than saving lives? We need to get Jimmy Kimmel on this one.

    It's definitely politically incorrect but if I saw a dude with a beard like that renting a truck at Home Depot I would be alarmed. Maybe I am more bigoted than I thought.

    Maybe he is sick, for some other reasons, but what did he say that is wrong? ISIS uses social media. (Fact). The alt-right, by all studies of the phenomenon, almost completely exists on social media. (Fact). That's all he said. Hate loves exploiting social media to enlist misfits. It's obvious.

    So two facts make him "sick" -- okay. Are you feeling sensitive about the alt right?

    Well, if Mick Fry establishes the cold blooded reputation for non-stop satire that the Cheetah has established, I will tip my hat. But until then, unlike Cheetah, Fry seems pretty serious in this thread.

    Cheetah's post was, as I read it, very arch, a parody of other thinking.

    Well, if you want to look at it that way, how about all the calls for banning Muslims? In your view, that would be the equivalent stupidity of stricter gun laws.

    Well yeah, banning people from being allowed to be Muslims would indeed be the equivalent of banning guns in that freedom of religion is constitutionally guaranteed (even if it might be "outdated") just like the right to bear arms. I would disagree with and fight any law preventing people from choosing their own religion.

    If you mean as an immigration policy, I'd support scaling back immigration from countries that export terrorists at a high rate and from failed countries where proper vetting is impossible, but again, you can't ban a religion, that can't be part of the decision to bar entry to someone.

    You can't *not* rent him the truck, unless there is something blatantly lawless.

    eta: just like a Uhaul, Ryder, any rent-a-car company, etc....

    Instead of banning Muslims from entry perhaps we should attack the radicalization process by which terrorists use to create these monsters. He is reported to have read a great deal of ISIS propaganda based on his twitter feed.

    I know how much people rail against this - but it is time we think about hate speech that demonizes people and realize it is a means to inspire violence and maybe it should not be 100% protected. People are dying from it.
