I think alot of people forget just hot good Drexler really was.

He was THE #2 Shooting guard in the league behind Jordan for years
    so
it would not surprise to think he would think he was as good.
I think most of the folx saw Drexler during his last year
but . . .make no mistake. . Drexler was GREAT

Clyde is stating what we all were thinking. No one expected Magic to "beat" HIV.

Shoot, many have questioned if he actually had it, or if it was a ploy to save humanity by raising awareness...

    And...

Clyde's not the sharpest knife in the silverware draw.

    Next.

He sounded so much smarter in the Dream Team Documentary. The wonders of editing.

Too bad he doesn't say more stuff like this on Rockets broadcasts. I'd certainly love him more.

For most people it pretty much still does, even most ppl in western countries its still pretty bad.

Of course if one can afford to hire people to run every part of your life except maybe wiping your butt, you can survive a heck of a long time with something like hiv.

This commercial sums up the view on AIDS back in the 80s.

How so? He retired before the start of the 91 season.

Clyde, you were a fantastic player, I appreciate what you did for our team, and I'm happy to have your number in our rafters...

    ...but please shut up.

He doesn't exactly engage his brain before opening his mouth, but you must admit that you all thought Magic had a few years left at best when diagnosed?

Oh and on the Drexler v Jordan debate... MJ never had that signature no-look pass, Drexler wins.

Clyde was very much like Robinson. Everyone one thought he was in the conversation for best in the league until he had to go head to head with the best in the league. Make no mistake though, Clyde was ridiculously good.

Most of the players were selected in September of that year.

What's funny is that the last spot was debated between Clyde and Thomas. Clyde might not have made it if not for MJ's hatred of Thomas.

Yeah - I don't think the youngins here know of / remember the AIDS panic. When Magic announced he had it, everyone thought he would be gone very soon.

    LOL.

As nice as Clyde is. If you've seen him in some interviews, he's still pretty competitive. When MJ was talking about coming into the league, he mentioned how much he was being compared to Drexler. And he hated that.

I can't remember if 2 or 3 years ago, when CBS was ranking College hoops best dunkers of all time, Drexler felt he should be number 1. Didn't think there was anyone who did it more, or was as flashy as he was in college.

Drexler stays quiet, until you put a mic in front of him. i think its one of the funniest things.
