Clyde must be running out of dough. He really shouldn't do this. You got your ring, you're in the hall of fame, don't make it to the hall of shame.

I may never forgive him for having a huge smile on his face after we lost game 5 to Utah in 1998.

    Somewhere else, please.

I was away from Houston for a couple of years- can someone give me a quick expl. of what happened with Clyde Drexler coaching UofH? Why did he only last 2 years?

It's because of Bernie Mac's "mister 3000" movie. It's making all the old fogeys nostalgic.

Either way he can do whatever he wants. It's his life. I'd watch to see if he's successful but turn off the TV if he fails though. Hard to see a legend look human.

It's like watching those kung-fu masters get killed by poison in their tea or food. You're like WTF??

Man, I would love it if he came here and backed up T-Mac. He'd find ways to score.

I think the only job Clyde should take would be Kenny Smith's job of being Charles Barkley's foil on the NBA half time show.

Given how bad the two fought in the Rocket's lockerroom, I think the two of them reunited would be a real treat.

I have never been a fan of line drive or semi-line drive shooters.

He was great in the fast break department but I guess his age will not allow him to be as prolific on the break like he was in his 20s and early 30s.

    I'll pass.

    I agree with you 100%.

The NBA is about entertainment. Psh, like you guys know what one of the NBAs 50 greatest is capable of at 42. You're acting like no one has ever played past 40.

I have always liked him but he shouldn't be coming back to the NBA because of his age and being out of the league for so long. It's much nicer to remember him as the Glide rather than someone who can't do his best despite all his effort.

Exactly how I feel when somebody starts talking about Clyde. I love the guy and he is one of my favorite Rockets, but the guy was smiling as if he won a million dollars after that game.

Clyde denied the report, claimed someone misunderstood him joking around.

Show Clyde some love. He helped us win a 2nd championship. Without him, there's a VERY good chance it wouldn't have happened. (No disrespect to full court passin', rebounding, O.T.) Clyde said "trade me to the Rox or get nothin for me". Thank you Clyde.

He certainly wouldn't be the worst Rocket on the roster if he came back. If Boki or Charlie Ward are good enough to get playing time, certainly there are situations in which Clyde could be useful. Let's keep in mind here that Moochie is still in this league also.

I don't want to see his reputation tarnished either, but he could probably help some team win. If nothing else, use him as a good luck charm. Has Clyde EVER played for a losing team? And correct me if I'm wrong here, but 2 years of NCAA coaching experience is about 2 more years experience than any of the other players in the league have.

That said, I hope someone else gives him a shot a coaching or in a front office. He'll definitely have a lot to prove after the UH debacle though.

I love these comments. The NBA is about entertainment. The NBA is about business. The NBA is about making money.

Sorry, but the NBA is about basketball. It so happens that we all like basketball and it therefore entertains us, but it is about basketball. If it were about entertainment then Dennis Rodman would still be in the league.

If Drexler is good enough to make a comeback then that is fine with me, but wasn't he something like 1 for 18 in his last game? Wasn't it becoming apparent many years ago that it was time for him to retire? Obviously, he wasn't going to come off the bench and become a role player, so he had to retire because he wasn't going to get another job taking 18 shots a game.

I love the guy, but he should probably stay out of the league.

The NBA is about many things, with the game roughly equal to the money the league can bring in. Rule changes are often money driven. If the NBA were strictly about basketball then comebacks would be dependent about the skill level of the guy. Is Clyde aged 42 better than the twelfth guy on the Nuggets?

The 12th guy is a guy that is expected to contribute (at least in a minor way) in the future, maybe a rook, whereas Clyde wouldn't be getting better and only takes up PT.

From "The GM Bible. Chapter 5:The 12th Man" by MFW2310 -

Dude, there are no set rules when it comes to filling out a roster. There's nothing wrong with having an older vet on the bench if you think that he can bring some value to the team and share years of knowledge with the younger players (who sadly probably wouldn't want any part of it...)

Clyde Drexler is MY FAVORITE PLAYER OF ALL-TIME. I certainly hope the Rockets invite him to join and back up T-Mac. How do you guys know Clyde still doesn't have a vertical leap. I don't want to see Clyde as a Denver Nugget. HE SHOULD COME BACK TO HOUSTON.
