For those of you looking at Gooden's numbers and saying "Wow! 15 and 9?! So what if people are saying he's got issues - we need that here!", look at his stats game-by-game he has a monster game followed by two eggs.
24-11 game, followed by games of 12-2 and 2-4. 25-15 game, followed by a 4-6. 27-6, followed by 6-6 and 2-3. 9-game stretch in January were he doesn't get double-digit rebounds. 15 games were he gets 5 rebounds or less. He would live in the doghouse his entire year.

Inconsistency is frustrating, we already have 7 feet 6 inches of it. The last thing we need is another inconsistent player. But obviously need to get younger and more athletic, Gooden fits that bill. The reality is his "off nights" are basically a typical night for Juwan Howard. If he can be had, "Issues" aside, we've already upgraded the PF position.

Now i'm not going to go as far as to say he's the long-term solution as his contract is up after next season and he will probably look to cash in, but if he can be had for cheap it's a low risk decision for a 23 year old, improving PF that could help us right away.
