I hope so. I'm thinking we will sign Marc Jackson and send Cato away w/ our newly acquired draft picks. Marc Jackson has probably worked hard this offseason and will be a good addition to the team.

Trade our draft picks with Cato just to get rid of him?!! no way! He's lazy and his contract sucks, but no way you trade Griffin just to get rid of him.

Surely, you meant the ones we just acquired from Toronto for trading ZRB's favorite 43 year old player, and not Eddie and TMo.

Oh yea, forgot about those picks. That's probably what you meant then not Griffin and Morris. But if we don't sign Jackson or McCoy, we'll NEED Cato

What was the name of that Richard Pryor (and John Candy) movie where he had to spend $30 million in one month so he could inherit $300 million? Odd that I can remember the $ amounts, plot, and actors - but forget the name of the movie

If anyone's ever wasted more money in a shorter amount of time (Vegas excluded), I don't know about it.

I think the addition of Marc Jackson would be great, but it would have to be at minimum cost.

As of this point, I don't think there's anyone out there that would take Cato. No matter how you package him. His contract is too big, and Rockets would expect some talent in return. So Cato is a Rocket for awhile.

That said, Marc Jackson, if cheap, and for a short contract would be great. But why not let Cato start, with Collier backing him up. Perhaps sign another big boy, Axel Dench for garbage minutes. Mo Taylor and Eddie Griffin will get a few minutes at 5 this year.

Cato, Cato he's our man, if he isn't then he's gone.

Way to stroke his ego - surround him with garbagemen. We all know that Cato has *potential*, but in reality he sucks out there when trying to play the game. I can't remember how many times last season I'd end up yelling "Get him outta there!!" at the TV as Kelvin fumbled three passes in a row, rimmed two dunks in a row, or just sat there staring at the ball as it bounced past him out of bounds on an offensive possession...

If they can harness his *potential*, then I'll be more than happy. He's got the body for it. Sometimes, he's got the brains for it. But if they find out how to give him the instincts for it, let us know...

Cato sucks and I don't think that if there was a fire in his house he would wake up.

    Hey treeman,

So let me get this straight...

    1) You're saying Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Mo Taylor, and Eddie Griffin are garbage.

    or,

    2) We should sign Shaq, Dikembe, and Alonzo as backups to make Cato "feel better" about himself.

If that's not what you're saying, then you absolutely missed my point. The comment about Collier backing up Cato, with Dench playing garbage minutes simply reiterates the Rockets current situation. I don't understand how having Collier and Dench behind Cato would or wouldn't stroke his ego. His contract in and of itself should stroke it enough.

My point is that Cato will start this year. The world is upon his shoulders. He's not stupid, he knows this. IMO, he does need to have his ego stroked and he wants to and he has to be the man to perform well. I don't know why this is so, but I've run across a lot of people like that. So I think he will do a great job for us. This will be the first time we've seen Cato in a position where HE IS THE MAN.

Instead of starting another "pro-Cato" thread, I figured I'd just refresh this one.

Clutch should give me a gold star for my consideration.:)

    Anyway,

Cato deserves every bit of of the bashing he gets. We all know he's a lazy b*stard, and like Lorenzo told Calogero, there's nothing worse in life than wasted talent.

I feel like the majority of you guys about Cato. But I do have one more year of hope and promise for him. Open your minds to this one point. Since Cato has been with the Rockets, has he ever had this much pressure to perform? Yea, yea, he was signed to eventually be Hakeem's replacement, and he's had chances to step up when Hakeem was hurt, but the point is, this year is Cato's year. We all know he has incredible talent. We'll give him a first year to fumble and bumble and 'get used' to things. We'll let the next year slide, and chalk it up to 'the injury.' Ok, so here we are now, no more Dream. Pretty much no other option at the 5. No one but Cato. I know I'm making excuses for the guy, but I think we should rally behind him and show him our support. Obviously, he won't know, and probably doesn't care, if we do or not, but give him this one more chance. This is a new year. A new situation. I think Cato will be a different player this year. He knows if he falls, Hakeem won't be back in a few days, weeks, months to bail him out.

And if things don't work out this year....

Like I said, I have one more year of hope and promise for Cato. There's really no other excuses after this year.

Besides, I hear Toronto has a center with a contract that ends in 3 years.
