I had a friend that hung out with one of the storeclerks and he said you are an @sshole and a pathalogical liar.

I think most can see where this is going. ;)

Let's see...everyone who has met Hakeem has described him as a nice person and humble considering he was a NBA superstar. The fans, the people I know who have met him personally, the media, his teammates, his coaches.....

On the other hand I have a random BBS poster with a very telling nickname "Ill-Skillz" who claims he has heard from his "un-named and undocumented sources" that Hakeem is a jerk.....

This is a tough one! *laugh*

    Troll :p

This is a forum, if you get your feelings hurt because someone wrote something you didn't like and it causes you to lash oout like that I suggest you go back to collecting pokemon cards or whatever other hobby you may have.

If you want to be a homer, that's your business. Have at it, it's your right. Just like it's my right to say what I feel. Even though I may disagree with what you say I don't feel a need to suppress your opinion.

Another low IQ poster with weak comebacks.....

If you'd bother paying attention, those were all documented by eyewitness accounts. The incident with the cameraman was caught on tape and Hakeem was taken to jail on the convenience store assault.

Everyone who has met him....you gotta be kidding. There's no one that's going to say Hakeem was never an azz to them? Next......

Low IQ poster? Is that the best insult you can throw at me?

My post wasnt a comeback. It was questioning your sources. Your sources are your friends. No documentation whatsoever.

Riiight....well documented...why dont you document them then? Instead of saying your friend who was close to rockes who knew a dog .....

    Weak arguments.

    ZBoy,

I heard from my best friend's baby momma's cousin's barber that Juwon Howard is a great person and not only that, but that he schooled Kevin Garnett 1-on-1 during a summer league once.

A fight outside your place of employment with a sibling shows you have some self control issues.

I don't care what you believe. Those things were on the news and they did happen. If you want some links or documentation look them up yourself. Anyone who is a serious Rocket fan heard about them as they happened.

Yes, he got better after he rediscovered his faith. But, too tell folks he was coming to a high profile event and then no-show is pretty boorish behavior and says he still has some more growing to do.
    Quit falling for media hype....

Instead of just blurting.....how about you tell me how you think it went down.

These were quotes that "Akeem" made when he was either a rookie or at UH. He bragged about how much bigger his brothers were then he was and when they showed up here I think the tallest one was 6-5 or so.

My point was.... Why did it take so long to correct everyone.

    ZZZZZZZboy, wake up!

Hakeem did assault a Fox 26 cameraman. It was at the apartment complex at OST and Almeda across from the VA Hospital.

The Convenience store was on 1960 near I-45 back when Hakeem lived in Champion Oaks (I think). The Rockets were in the playoffs at the time.

At first before Hakeem rededicated himself to his faith he didn't really care how the name was spelled. Then he decided he wanted it to be done correctly.

I was a huge Rockets fan since the 85-86 season. If I remember some things like that, I don't remember any of the specifics you mentioned. You made the charge, back it up.

As far as the Toronto deal... Hakeem didn't actually get any more money due to the tax differences. So he didn't leave for more money. Hakeem felt he was disrespected. That disrespect came in the form of the Rockets initial offer to him. So while money translated to respect, it isn't as if it was a greed motivated thing.

It doesn't really matter though, I am sure we won't look at the same events the same way. We will just have to disagree.

Hakeem always felt disrespected when he didn't get his way. That's why the fights and the conflicts with management occurred.

I can remember a few years back when Hakeem was pouting over his role in the offense and crapped all over Rudy T saying he'd rather go play for Pat Riley because Pat knows how to coach big men.

I thought Hakeem did not come back stateside for the All Star game?

I saw several articles that read something to the affect of "noticeably abscent from the all star festivities, Houston's legendary bigman, Hakeem Olajuwon."

Who cares what you think. Olajuwans always gunna be one of the best athlete Houston ever had. No matter whose ass he whooped back in the day
and i give him props to say no to his brother for wanting his car. ****, the fact that he supported them and brought them over and got them settled is more than most players do for their family.

Oh and also, If your upset about Hakeem changing the spelling in his name, then I must say, you have some issues in your life.

Allright. We all get it. You don't care for Hakeem Olajuwon. You made your point. Was it necessary to derail this entire thread? You've managed to take two undocumented charges against him which may or may not have occurred at some undisclosed time in the past and dominate this conversation through sheer belligerence. Can we move on please.

I just caught on to this thread...

Let me tell you that at the very least, Olajuwon is HAILED around this area. The beating he put on Ewing in addition to how humble he was...let me tell you, EVERYTIME I talk about the 94 Finals, I NEVER bring this up. Its always the Knick fan. They always say: OLAJUWON COULDN'T BE STOPPED. HE WAS THE REASON YOU GUYS WON.

There is also a national sports radio station down here that when they talk about Dream, they always rank him in the top 8 players of all time. One of the hosts (Mike Francesca) talks about him like if he wants to marry him. He just praises the man to no end. He gets alot of play here, trust me. Its the humility that grabs people.

One last thing. Outside of Jordan, he was the best player of the 90's? Let me tell you this. JORDAN IS LUCKY he didn't play against the BEST player I ever saw. Period. Jordan said it himself in an interview with ESPN Mag around 1997 or 1998. He didn't think they would be able to handle the big man during those two years. In addition, I believe that in their respective peaks, Olajuwon had like a 12-10 win/loss record against his Airness. I love Jordan to. But please. Dream would of crapped on him! :)

That wasn't exactly what Hakeem said. He didn't say he would rather play for Pat than for Rudy. He never said it in a comparison. It was that he would like to play for Pat which is very different.

He said he wouldn't mind playing for Pat Rilley for the reason you mentioned. There is a difference.

You might also remember that Hakeem being the nice guy that he is actually made an effort to take the time to call into Rudy's radio spot, to make sure that Rudy knew it was a press thing that was blown up out of proportion and that there were no problems between the two of them. Rudy said that he never believed there were problems. The two have continued to be friendly and warm at all the functions they have attended.

That is exactly why people ask for support with your claims, because it might be that under deeper examination there isn't much to the accusation in the first place.

Step off dude. If someone challenges my opinion, I have every right to defend it. I made my initial post and then responded when my comments were debated. Take a hike if you dont like it.
