No one has said anything about Moses Malone being placed at #77 for his 1982 season with the Rockets. I wasn't alive at that time so some of the elderly should comment on that.
Swoopes got on there at #37 with Texas Tech is worth mentioning. I was hoping to see Coop on the list but itz all good.
And even though it isn't basketball related Earl Campbell got on at #83 for the 1980 season.

sorry why does it matter if he's fan friendly and likes sprite comercials or not? and even on the pirates do you remember the gold gloves he won? this guy wasn't just a monster in the batters box but on the field as well. 800 plus slugging percentage?

and if everyone in the MLB does stuff it makes bonds numbers seem even more phenomenal doesn't it?

It matters cause fans watch and pay for the athletes salary. Plus we are paying for entertainment. I'm not entertained by some steriod dude who's arogant and all he does is walk anyways.

    You can't walk Michael Jordan.

thats fine but we're not talking about who is the most friendly or the kindest or the best role model.

we're simply talking about the season and the impact on his team. and you can absolutely disagree and say MJ had a better season but its not absurd to put bonds up there.

plus i disagree with the notion that barry bond's off the field antics make him less entertaining on the field. he can be a complete prick (which by most accounts he is) but that doesn't dimish his track record.

ps: his being walked so much is inherently a testiment to his greatness.

Who cares if he doesn't do Sprite commercials. He's not a sellout.

Barry Bonds is one of the most friendly baseball players you'll EVER meet. He is NOT nice to media, but is friendly to fans. I have never seen Barry not sign an autograph for a fan. If you sit out in left field, sometimes he'll even talk to you. And, he always tosses up foul balls to kids in the stands.

What a cowardly sport. Im not going to pay money to see someone get walked cause they are scared he's going to hit the ball.

Even when they quadrouple teamed Hakeem, he had the ability to do something about it. Either fadeway or pass it to a teammate.

I'm sure Barry is the best player in baseball. But I would never rank that #1 over a football player like Barry Sanders and MJ.

As one of the "elderly," let me say that Moses Malone in Houston was one of the most overlooked superstars the game has ever seen. He was a big scorer, an intimidating defensive presence and the best rebounder in the league, by far. Unfortunately, most of the world didn't find out how good he was until he left to join the 76ers
If any of you young whipper-snappers ever get a chance to see him on ESPN Classic or NBA TV, make sure you take advantage of it, especially if it's in the 1981 playoffs. He was just as dominant in his time as Hakeem was in his.
Now I gotta go take a nap.
