The point others are making and I was responding to is only GSW can give him a Bird Max and Raises. Other teams can't pay him as much, and need cap room. So if he wants to fully max-out, it's with GSW, for 5 yrs vs a max of 4 for other teams. If he signs something less, then it is for less. It's upwards of $30M more he'd make on a 5-yr with Bird raises that a four-yr with a new team.

Not arguing, just saying there is precedence.

There is no poison pill in play, since GSW has his Bird rights to pay the max. Using a Player Option can be a deal breaker, but it isn't the so-called "poison pill" that non-bird's face.

Only player with a max contract on the warriors is.... Klay thompson.

Thompson signed for the 4 year 70 million max extension. (about 17.5 per year) Though technically even thompson's contract is not a true max, as it was based on the salary cap being 67 million the year it would start... 2015-16, instead of having it written as 25% of the true salary cap for 2015-16 which will be 69+ million.

Draymond will be the second highest paid player on the Warriors at (17 million per), but his 5 year 85 million (no options) contract is not a max. The actual max Green was eligible for was 5 year 90+ million.

David lee is the third highest paid warrior at 15.5 million, which is the last year of a 6yr 79million contract signed in 2010 is likewise not a max contract.

Bogut, Iggy then curry are the 4th 5th and 6th highest paid, with salaries between 11 million and 12 million

Not surprised the Warriors gave Green the max. I am surprised however that they did it before finding a taker for Lee and went ahead and picked up the option on Speights. They've got a very expensive payroll heading into next season. If they don't unload some of their players, they're looking at a huge luxury tax bill headed their way.

He's definitely their glue guy, but $17 mil per year? WOW.

I don't even like Draymond Green but I hope he gets a ginormous contract so it will handicap the Warriors depth in the future.

If you use Morey type stats to evaluate him (plus/minus blah blah blah)... He's actually worth this much.
