As Lynus correctly pointed out, it is hard to imagine something more non-threatening than a cartoon.

Yes, I completely agree with you. It is offending and wrong imo but people are free to do it. They should not be threatened to be hurt or killed. That is my point.

ATW, on the other hand wants to know why I'm offended and thinks I shouldn't be offended.

Very mature. The fact remains that you have been unable to point out anything offensive in Molly's cartoon.

    Fair enough.

Some days it feels like the whole f***ing world has just lost its mind. (<-- not directed at you.)

    Ugh.

    I'm out of this thread.

    I think.

    How was your weekend?

I've already answered the question. It's not really that offensive to me. She's comparing the Prophet to a box of pasta. It's not funny to me and am not offended really. I find it cheesy. The reason she apologized is she was unfortunately directly responsible for draw Muhammad day which WAS offending to me because I know for a fact that 90% of the drawings would be beyond insulting. But I do feel bad that she has to leave everything behind because of some wacko.

The way I know you are just a hateful troll is that, even though I have agreed with you that the threats against are completely wrong, you are still lumping me with the "wackos" lol. Again, your issue is not that the threats were made but why Muslims would be angry and offended. TOO BAD FOR YOU, I'M OFFENDED, WTF ARE YOU GOING TO DO? Why does it bother you that I'm offended?!? I don't get it. I can be offended and not be violent. Why is it so hard for you to understand that? (i know you can't and won't answer this)

Also, I don't even get why you're asking why she should apologize when she's ALREADY APOLOGIZED on her own accord.....man you seem to have a hard time putting 2 and 2 together. No wonder nobody, outside of Shotang (due to him being new) wants to discuss anything with you.

Please don't view this if you are religious or easily offended. Didn't really even want to post it, as it is bound to offend someone who let their curosity get the better of them. But I'm curious what others in here would think would happen if this were to be printed in a major U.S publication.

What would happen if this cartoon were to be printed in the New York Times with a title saying, "Young boys come to church" ... I guarentee there would be a death threat or two, and if it were to be reprinted in different publications I'm sure something would happen.

Yea ts true, tat is obviously simply offensive in nature, you put htat in a newspaper, its not about freedom of speech, its just something that is tasteless and offending something that is so important and sacred to some people.

I'm not even sure the religious aspect of it would be the main issue to some, even though that kernel of actual commentary would probably insulate it from any legal problem.

This thread never had much usefulness to outlive as far as I can tell.

The whole idea is silly. There isn't a "tyranny of Islamic clerics" pervading the lives of people in the West. Just some random terrorist out there who need to be deal with like the criminals that they are. What the ATWs of the world are doing won't lessen the number of crazy imams making death threats. All the ATWs want to do is to say "Hey, I stand up against them Muslims and tell the truth about these people on Clutchfans! Gimme some rep!"

Alright then. There are violent African America gangs. So, we need to stand up to them and expose them for who they are. Lets declare a day to draw racist cartoons that offensive to African Americans (including the gang members). This way, we can show the gangs we ain't afraid of them. Great idea!

It just looks like Jesus consoling a young boy who is very distraught and crying in his arms. What's offensive about that?

More importantly, no death threats were issued over this and nobody actually tried to kill the person who drew that picture. Some stated that they found it offensive, but that was about as far as it went.

Interesting. I went to Oktoberfest and had a taxi driver who told me (without me having asked) that he was from Afghanistan. Next sentences: "The f***ing Americans are ****ing up my country. They support the Taliban. There is no such thing as Al Qaeda. And did you know, the Americans blew up the World Trade Center and the Pentagon because they wanted a reason to invade Afghanistan because there is a lot of Lithium in the mountains there." When I politely disagreed about the World Trade Center, he said that it is in the media in Afghanistan, he had just been there for a month, and by the way, everyone would know that 10,000 jews worked in the WTC and that none of them were there on 9/11. And that only the Americans could have blown up the building because no pilot would be able to hit the building. I disagreed, but that only got him angrier. He made some more outlandish remarks before he dropped me off.

Other than that, it was a good weekend.

Why don't we drape it over a building in Times Square and see the reaction around the country ?

Or you think our little Rockets board is such a prime spot for religious nutjobs that a sample of reactions from us is more than enough ? ;)

You're most insightful post yet. So now I know why you are so fearful and quick to judge many on the actions of a few. I guess your parents never gave you the right answer when you, as any child innocently asks, "Why do people hate?". I can't blame you, closed-minded people like you always fear the unknown.

Don't worry man, good always triumphs over evil......no matter what religion.
