I am also disappointed. Of course I am not that big of a Jay-Z fan, personally I think he extremely overrated. But for someone considered an ATG, it is a pretty weak ass album. He just rambles on in his raps, its a bunch of incoherent bull**** that doesn't even make sense or go together.

He just does it for the sake of doing it now. No passion or fire in his work anymore. He definitely should call it a career and quit while he is on top. Otherwise, rap is going to retire him. Only track worth listening to on that album is Young Forever. The rest is ... "meh".

while the album isn't great in its entirety, but it has a few bangers. empire state of mind, already home, a star is born, hate, and forever young are some songs that can be considered classic jay songs in a few years. the rest, however, are mediocre.

PS - reminder does go hard in the whip though, REAL HARD.

Yeah my 15's kick hard as hell with Reminder... and I'm pretty sure the name of the song is Young Forever, not Forever Young haha.

I resisted commenting long enough telling myself I had outgrown rap. I just heard it again on the radio and that last verse by Eminem is one of the best rap verses I have ever heard. He's hands down the best lyricist since Illmatic dropped circa 15 years ago.

If I'm a rapper, there's no way I ever ask Eminem to collab when he's likely to murder me on my own track.

mainstream*. I'm not too privy to some of the more underground guys out there that some of you rap aficionados are aware of.

eminem has had better verses than that EASILY. it isn't hard to outshine drake, 'ye, and wayne on the same track (this is the same dude who destroyed jay on his own track)

i assume you're referring to 'patiently waiting' and 'till i collapse', both of which i think are inferior to this. if not...link?

lol, that's true, but i was judging the verse on its own merit and not in comparison to those three. em's verse ALMOST made it worth sitting through the two douchebags immediately before him. drake is eh, okay i guess.

what song was this? i have been curious since "and eminem murdered you on your own s***"* - nas, ether.

BTW, i don't find that to be too great a feat. i have never been overly impressed by jay-z.

*sorry Dakota, its a direct quote

Lil Wayne shouldn't of let Jay-z on Mr. Carter. I believe Wayne had 3 verses in that song and Jay only had one, yet Jay murder it.

Real colab suicide is asking Luda te get on your track. I don't remember a song that he hasn't out shined all the other rappers in the song.

I like em's verse but I agree with t_mac1 he's had much better verses. Beautiful is a very good song.

it's all opinions. 8 mile (pick any verse on that song) and it's easily better than this verse lyrically/word play/flow. like i said, after hearing the first 3 verses from drake, wayne, kanye, em just shut it down.

    personally:
    - infinite's 1st verse
    - realest n***** (em has the last verse)
    - renegade (1st verse, hell whole song - this is the song he killed jay)
    - bully
    - till i collapse (i gotta disagree w/ u here)
    - drug ballad (3rd verse)
    - sing for the moment (2nd & 3rd verse)
    - deja vu (wicked song lyrically)
    - must be the gangja (2nd/3rd verse RIDICULOUS)

those are just some on top of my head in regards to em

but yes, if em puts his mind into it, he's lyrically the best "mainstream" rapper out there right now (though i put him up against any rapper)

guess i just have to disagree - i liked this one better.

anyways, this drake kid should consider switching to R&B. i actually like his singing voice. his rapping....not so much. what's with all the buzz surrounding him anyways? though i guess when the bar is soulja boy and lil wayne, you don't really even need to answer that...

All the buzz over him is due to the ladies. They love his voice and looks, and since Drake's songs are mostly directed towards women, bam! all the chicks flock his way and he flourishes.

It was similar with Chris Brown until his scandal.

Not necessarily, while some of his songs are about women, he actually raps about things not associated with how much money he makes and the size of his diamonds. He has a great vision listen to this song..he is far better then any of these rappers now a days. He could easily rap along side any of todays greats.
